I installed the Thermalright ASF-Black AM5 CPU Holder during a recent Ryzen build, and it’s one of those small upgrades that actually makes a noticeable difference. The main reason I picked this up was to prevent CPU bending and improve mounting pressure—and it delivers. The frame replaces the stock retention bracket and applies more even pressure across the CPU, which helps with cooler contact. Since installing it, I’ve seen slightly better and more consistent temps under load, which lines up with what others report about improved thermal performance from better contact. Build quality is excellent for the price. The material feels sturdy, and everything lines up perfectly with the AM5 socket. Installation was straightforward, but I do recommend taking your time and following a guide if it’s your first time—this isn’t difficult, but you are working close to sensitive components. One thing to note: this is definitely more of an enthusiast or “tweaker” upgrade. If you’re not comfortable removing the stock bracket or working around your CPU socket, it might feel intimidating. But for anyone who enjoys optimizing their build, it’s a solid addition. Overall, this is a simple, affordable upgrade that improves mounting pressure, helps protect against CPU warping, and can even give you a small thermal benefit.
