Media Receiver Lite
I previously was using Bluetooth to transmit audio to my sound bar from my projector and one day the sound bar just refused to connect, obviously extremely frustrating when all you want to do is unwind after a long day at work. I was looking at ways of extracting audio from HDMI and came across this switch, and thought I would give it a go. What I really like about this switch is that it has 5 inputs. Most of the switches I have seen normally have 4. To be honest, you can never have to many HDMI inputs. It does have one optical and one aux out for audio. I went for optical, since that is the best option in my opinion and my sound bar supports it. The extracted sound is good quality from this switch, and I enjoy no longer having to fuss with Bluetooth. I turn everything on and it just works everytime. I do have a few extremely minor complaints. The first is how this is powered. It uses a barrel jack. It would have been awesome to see this come with USB-C, although this can be fixed with getting an adapter, but still annoying none the less. Second is that the audio outputs are on the front of the device. For me this was not a showstopper, but it makes it less aesthetically pleasing when all hooked up and routing cables not as great. Third complaint is the remote. It gets the job done, but man it is kinda ugly and cheap. The previous HDMI switch I was using has an Amazon Firesticklike remote that took AAAs. Not a huge deal, just annoying. My final verdict then. Should you get this? If you need to extract audio, absolutely yes. It will work exactly as advertised and you will not be disappointed. If you are switching from Bluetooth, consider this the cost of your sanity with extra HDMI inputs. If you are on the fence, you probably should just get it. You will thank me later.

Simple but does the job
This product breathed life into my legacy surround sound system. I decided to put in a home theater in my basement and wanted to use my 15 year old surround sound system to save money. The only problem was that the receiver was so old it didn't have HDMI inputs on it but it did have an optical audio input. For just $40 this device allowed me to connect up to 5 HDMI devices and split the video out to my projector via HDMI and send the audio to my surround sound system via optical audio. It works great and saved me $300 on buying a new receiver. The remote is very basic, only buttons to change the input, but that is really all you need.
