Issue with Cable: Cable can twist and break the four wires inside.
In my opinion, the manufacturer needs to make two small changes to the cable. 1: the small wires inside the cable need to be longer inside the battery connect lid so the are less likely to get move around and broken off. 2: the cable needs to be secured so it can not be rotated where it enters the battery connection lid. If the cable rotates very short internal wires will break off the circuit board that controls battery charging and power distribution. I love this battery box it allows me to use my bike headlight when I go on 8 hour night time treks. In my case the battery box was delivered Oct 14, 2018 it is now January 01 29. The cable rotated enough times that the small wires inside the cable broke off the circuit board. I did contact the vendor about a week ago and have had not response. Because I need to use the battery box and my light this week I opened battery connection top. I removed the 4 screws to access the circuit board. I had to de-soldered the 6x battery connection springs, this allowed me to remove the circuit board from the top part of the battery connect lid. I could see right away that three of the wires were broken off the circuit board. Fortunately it was easy to see what positions the wires to on. I remove a longer part of the black cable cover. stripped the plastic from the four small wires and soldered them back into place. There is a "C" clip that holds the cable cover from coming out of the red case. That "C" clip unfortunately does not stop the cable from rotating. I scraped the red plastic around the hole where the wire goes with a small knife to create a rough surface. I then put hot glue inside and outside of the cable. The hot glue hopefully will stop the cable from rotating and stop it from breaking the wires. I soldered the battery connection springs back in place, put the screws back in place. Put the battery connect top back on the base and screwed it down. Attached my iPhone and my bike head light. Pressed the little blue button to provide power to my iPhone. Yeeeeeh!!! have power to my iPhone again. Turned on my Head light, cycled through High, Medium, Low and Flash. Back in business. I really do like this product. 12+ hours of 1/4 bright light. 8 hours on full power light. The batteries are from two old laptops. Found 12x out of 18x 18650 LG batteries that were all still good. I now have a great energy source that will charge my phone and light. I bought two of these battery boxes one for me and one for my wife. I bought them because I had previously purchased 4x really bright lights that came with 4x batteries in a shrink wrapped package. The light are fantastic, batteries were garbage and all the batteries failed after only 2-4 months. These battery boxes are the almost perfect solution.
