1,000+ Hours Later, This Printer Still Surprises Me
My experience with the FLASHFORGE Adventurer 5M The Adventurer 5M has been an absolute workhorse. It puts out consistent, reliable prints day after day with almost no downtime. I waited until I had real hours on this machine before reviewing it, because I didn’t want my opinion influenced by the “new printer glow.” I now have well over 1,000 print hours on it, and my impression hasn’t changed: right out of the box, it performs extremely well. I started 3D printing on an Ender 3, which taught me patience and troubleshooting, but not much about enjoyable printing. The 5M is what kept me in the hobby. I print a lot of functional parts and accessories across different hobbies, and I want durability, accuracy, and repeatable results. This printer delivers exactly that. I primarily run Sunlu filament on it, which is very budget-friendly, and the print quality I get from this combination is shockingly good. I recently purchased a Bambu Lab P1S expecting noticeable gains in speed and print refinement, and to my surprise, the difference is almost unnoticeable in everyday use. The 5M hangs right with it while costing roughly half as much. - Pros - Highest print quality I’ve seen at this price - UI is intuitive and simple - Works seamlessly with Orca Slicer - Genuinely fast, nearly matching my Bambu P1S - Replacement parts are easy to get on Amazon - Minimal tuning required, just run Orca’s built-in calibrations and go - Cons - Louder than the P1S - No enclosure This printer has earned a permanent spot on my bench. If Flashforge keeps building machines like this, I’d be more than happy to test whatever they’re working on next. TL:DR Over 1,000 hours of use, rock-solid reliability, top-tier print quality, and speed that hangs with printers twice its price. The Adventurer 5M is one of the best-value machines in consumer 3D printing.

Nearly Perfect First Printer
This is my first 3D printer. Late to the game, I was printing a very complex Slappy Dummy head within 30 minutes of taking it out of the box. Orca Slicer is apparently a clone of bambu slicer, and it seems most of them are the same, but it has TONS of options that allow for custom scaling, support styles/placement, and any filament on the market in 2024. I've been printing almost non-stop for three + weeks now with some failures that were easy to diagnose and correct. The hot plate has excellent adhesion with PLA as long as it is kept free of hand oils. I have only needed the glue on a full size Jason V. hockey mask I printed for Halloween. I found that PETG sticks very hard to the build plate if the temp is above 65d and is very hard to get off. High speed PLA, PLA-Silk, and PLA Pro all print and come off the plate perfectly. The enclosed design keeps noise down and dust out very well. I have not smelled any fumes whatsoever so far thanks to the dual internal and external air filters. I found that trying to print directly from a USB stick can cause move queue errors due to read/write speed so copying all files directly to the printer's memory avoids this. It has a filament senor that stops the print if it runs out without letting the nozzle get empty so you can easily put in a new roll and it continues without issue. Also, it recovers from a power outage or accidental disconnect without missing a beat. For the price I would buy this again in a heartbeat.

Worst brand ever - Avoid if you value your money/time
UPDATE: 2 Months later 2 months in and this is the worst printer I have owned. While the hardware itself is "fine" and works, the software/firmware have been a nightmare. The original software options barely functioned for remote monitoring and in the last couple of weeks they released Orca-FlashForge and FlashMaker. Problem with BOTH software is they were basically release as beta software and the remote functionality is broken. I spent 2 weeks with tech support and they have basically been useless. I've gotten better support from Comcast which says a lot. I also printed the official Flahsforge enclosure and bought acrylic panels for 50 bucks. Bought the camera for 25. Both parts being officially from Flashforge you would think they can work together but the camera cable was too short. Their supports response was it is indeed to short and I should source my own extension cable... My experience has been poor and I would never suggest this brand to anyone else. Avoid like the plague and spend you money elsewhere. Original: Wanted to wait a month before writing a review so I could fully use it and test. To those who don't want to read a novel. Its a good printer with LOTS of potential but as with most things you shouldn't buy on how good it "could" be. Out of the box the unit setup was quick and self explanatory. I last printer i purchased was the Creality K1 which had its own set of defects (which they fixed) so I was prepared for a hassle. Turns out everything was simple and I was printing within 30min. The issue begun happening after a few hours of printing. What everyone says about the included bed is true, its crap and you should get a replacement. I contacted Flashforge and they sent me their PEI bed right away when I mentioned the issue so anyone who purchases should be the same. With the bed issue resolved I can reliably get good quality prints. I use PLA and PETG with no issues and quality is equal to my K1 and just as fast. Any issues from are slicer or user error. Now for my real gripes starting with the software. The 5M uses Klipper which is awesome but its locked down and unless you super savvy there is no way to easily unlock its full potential. They have github page for the klipper but its useless for the average person. Next is the FlashPrint software, Its ok but very limited. Flashforge themselves suggests Orca slicer which is indeed great but then you cannot wirelessly sent prints and have to use a thumb drive. I tried using FlashCloud and Polar3d to remote monitor the printer and that also feels lacking in control and reliability. Creality Cloud despite all the spam is significantly better for remote management and control. I also purchased the Adventurer 5m camera direct from FlashForge. It took over a month to arrive and their communication TERRIBLE but I did end up getting it. While capturing time lapses is great, using it with FlashCloud or Polar 3D is terrible and again, remote management sucks. Lastly lets talk these hotends. Quick swap is great but 30 bucks per hotend is terrible. Luckily this is my secondary printer and I don't print abrasive materials but if you go through hotends regularly your wallet is going to cry. There is a lot of potential and promised updates. They CLAIM there will be full klipper support, OEM led lights, enclosure kits and more but they are radio silent as to when. I got time to wait and the ability to tinker on my own but if this is your first printer or you want something feature rich with no bugs, look elsewhere. My K1 with upgraded hotend/extruder has been reliable and I would highly recommend that over this (when its on sale)
