I will have to use this indoors on a beam in my sitting room. How long before I can use the room again?

I would give it a good hour as the smell can be quite intense but I've used it in my bathroom quite extensively and it's dry after about an hour. Then I use the bathroom as normal.

Once applied and dried, can it be painted over?

Yes. Just make sure it is completely absorbed and dried otherwise it will taint the paint.

Do you spritz the wood lightly ..or leave it soaking?

Wet but do not soak. Two coats. Done.

Can i use it on my shed which has been painted with blue wood preserver

As with all woodworm treatments, the recommendation is not to use on painted/ coated wood as it can’t soak into the timber.
