I bought this drive for my grandson, and it has turned out to be such a great upgrade for both his PS5 and his PS4. I wanted to help him set it up on the PS5, but in his excitement, he beat me to it. He couldn’t get past the screen after formatting the drive. (which caused a little confusion). Once I figured this out, the rest of the installation was incredibly easy. After that, everything worked exactly the way it should. He was able to install the PS4 himself. On the PS5, it gives him tons of extra space for his growing game library, and transferring games only takes a few minutes after the initial transfer. On his PS4, he says it’s even easier — plug it in and go. He loves having all his games organized in one place! Overall, this has been a fantastic, upgrade that he’s genuinely excited about. ⭐ Pros • Huge storage for a great price • Easy setup • Works on both PS5 and PS4 — even simpler on PS4 • Fast transfers (only a few minutes per game) • Perfect for big game libraries • Portable and small size — easy to take to a friend’s house ⚠️ Cons • Can’t play PS5 games directly from it • Requires transferring games back to the console • Might need adult supervision to set up initially

This is a great upgrade to your PS5 but there seems to be a lot of confusion as to how it works. This is an external hard disk drive (HDD) as opposed to a more expensive, internal solid state drive (SDD). An HDD (like this one from Seagate) plugs into your PS5 with an included USB cable and allows you to store tons of games on it, but they can’t be played immediately. An SSD, on the other hand, requires installing inside your PS5 with the other components, but allows you to play games right away. A SSD is easier and faster to use, but costs considerably more per TB. For example, this Seagate 5TB HDD costs about the same as a 1TB SSD. A 5TB internal SSD will cost nearly triple what this one does. Some games take over an hour to install initially, but only ~10 minutes to transfer to your console so you can play them. So, with this Seagate HDD, you store your entire game library on it and then keep a handful of PS5 games stored directly on your console to play right away. Then, you can quickly move them back and forth between the Seagate drive and your console as you play different games. If you don’t need 5TB, or can afford a very expensive 5TB internal SSD, you should definitely get an SSD. But, if you have a lot of games and not a lot of money, this is a great option and 10 minutes to transfer a game isn’t that big of a deal in reality. So, this is a great option for people, such as myself, that aren’t willing to buy an expensive SSD with enough storage for all of their games. It’s also nice bc you can bring this external drive to use on a friends PS5 and quickly transfer the game to them, instead of waiting an hour for it to download or bringing your entire console with you. So, in summary, this Seagate HDD is cheap, has lots of memory, and requires about 10 minutes to move games around when you finish one and want to get other games ready to go. Whereas an internal SSD is expensive, has less memory, but allows all of your games to be played right away. In my experience, having 6 or 7 games on your console at a time and then these rest on an HDD to transfer quickly when you want to, is a fantastic and budget-friendly option. The drive itself is high quality, looks great, and pairs perfectly with the white PS5 console. I definitely recommend it!

Seagate 5 TB HHD. Seamless set up and integration with PS5. Allows extra content and games for space on console and SSD. PS4 games can play from the HDD, saving space on SSD and console. Until prices adjust on SSDs, more economical choice for backup. Recommended.

Quality item but it can only be used for PS4 games

I am satisfied with the functionality of the device. It was recognized by the PS5 instantly, and after formating it was ready to receive game data. What I don't like is that it has only 1.87 GB of available space. 123 GB for system functions is excessive for me. Also it's advertised to be a 3.2 USB connection, but the manual states that is a 3.0 USB. So even if the transfer speed is good, the price is higher than 3.0 devices. You can play PS4 games directly from the USB unit. I tried with the Evil Within 2 and the load times are exactly the same as in the PS5 storage and didn't find any graphic or sound issue. I'm satisifed with the purchase but those issues are something that can't be overlook.

Es una buena opción para almacenar juegos de Play Station 4 (que se pueden jugar directamente desde ahí sin necesidad de moverlos a la memoria interna de la consola) y juegos de Play Station 5 (sin la necesidad de descargarlos nuevamente, pero se tienen que mover al almacenamiento interno de la consola para poder jugarlo). El dispositivo llego en buenas condiciones tiene buen tamaño y forma, funciona correctamente y se instala fácilmente siguiendo el manual.
