Seagate IronWolf, 8 TB, Enterprise Internal NAS HDD – CMR 3.5 Inch, SATA 6 Gb/s, 7,200 RPM, 256 MB Cache for RAID NAS, Rescue Services (ST8000NT002)

One of my Synology NAS devices recently reported a degraded volume due to one of the two failing Seagate hard drives. After much deliberation between WD and Seagate (reading countless reviews and statistics) I decided to stick with Seagate again. The NAS has been running continuously with a pair of standard internal Seagate PC drives (not NAS designated drives) since ordered here on amazon back in Feb 2013. 6 years of continuous Synology operation serving files on my network and recording a surveillance camera feed, bearing in mind these are not NAS designated drives. That was good enough for me. Moreover, the price of the Seagate was better than WD. I received the new drive in minimal cardboard packaging, no bubble wrap - just the usual box-in-box with amazon paper cushioning - so I was a little concerned about potential drops and knocks. Plugged the drive into my PC and began thorough drive tests using Seagate's SeaTools software, ensuring a full surface scan was done. All checks passed without any problems. I checked the drive's SMART attributes and was concerned with some of the RAW data for Read Error Rate and Reallocated Sectors count. Turns out (after a little research) Seagate implements its own HEX raw values to allow them to record both read counts and error counts. In summary, no error, no reallocated sectors for my drive. I have now run the drive in my PC for a few weeks before placing it into my NAS, so far so good. Ran a few benchmark tests using CrystalDiskMark. Results attached (image). Would recommend.

Delivery was prompt and arrived, exactly as expected. Purchased this external hard drive to use in my recently purchased Synology NAS to store photos and videos on. It was very simple to install and set up, even for a tech novice like me. So far, has proved reliable and quick. Plus, the 12tb is more than enough storage to last me for now. NAS is a 2 Bay drive so I will be purchasing a second as a backup drive to this original. Will probably wait till it's on offer though to ensure I get the best value.

This disk was DoA. Interstingly the QR code also showed 'No Warranty' from Seagate whereas it should have been 3 years. I could hear it spin up but it was not detected by any of the 3 servers I tried it in. Also not boxed but bubble wrapped. Hence returned to Amazon for a full refund - which was easy to do.

A product from the classic Seagate Ironwolf line but ... myself, I was worried that it may be a try and miss - it was sold at a cheaper price than elsewhere on Amazon (same product) and with a product description (with French technical terms on amazon.co.uk) on the dodgy side. I was also afraid that it may be damaged in transit after reading one review - it arrived safely packaged in a decent two layer bubble wrap around it plus an Amazon cardboard package around it. I just shoved it into a NAS and took it from there. It works for now - time will tell if it was a good investment or not.

Arrived well packaged and undamaged. Noise is low but if you’re looking at this you will expect some noise. Cost/ TB is very reasonable for a consumer device.

The drive was working fine until it wasnt! Now have a notice of critical error after only 2 months. I set up a NAS with 2 of these in RAID so I wouldnt have a problem with my backups, like I did with my USB portable hard drives and Im not using it too often. It only backs up one a week and I have a couple of app programs that I have built residing on there, as well, while I was building them. It seemed like a good setup before, but now I dont know. Supposedly there is a 3 year warranty so we will see...

Perfect working on NAS, but on the beginning was little bit woried when I see how they was packed by amazon. puting drives to paper bag it's big mistake in my opinion.

Ürünü ev bilgisayarım için ikinci HDD olarak aldım. Fotoğraf vs. buluttan otomatik indirerek arşiv amaçlı kullanıyorum. Çalışma esnasında belirgin bir sesi yok. Ben üründen memnun kaldım. Ancak tuvalet kağıdını dahi sarıp sarmayalan amazon, bu ürünü yalnızca bir kutuya koyup göndermişti. En azından havalı naylonla sarılmasını ya da desteklenmesini beklerdim. Buna rağmen yaptığım testte diskte bir hata bulunmadığından bir sorun yaşamadım. OEM şekilde geliyor (kutusuz), vida vs dahil değil.

Gute NASFestplatte, läuft tadellos mit Raid 1.

Ainda não tive oportunidade de usá-lo a testar seus limites, 24/7, apenas em um Dock Station, mas sua resposta é rápida, falo do acesso ao disco e aos arquivos, não em relação à transferências de e para ele. Mas aposto que não vai decepcionar como um Western Digital que comprei recente e já apresenta bad blocks - ocasionados do nada, simples assim.

After 2 months several bad sectors appeared and the hdd caused me to have to reformat my NASes partition and me losing a lot of data :( Several attempts at requesting a refund which every time is approved but no return document or money is received.

Produits HS après une semaine d utilisation impossible de récupérer les donner même via seagate data recovery. Des années de perdues !!!
