Grandma had rotator cuff surgery. Would this be helpful post op?

I am not a doctor, but I can tell you that after my mother's knee surgeries she had a machine that circulated ice water through a wrap that went over her knee. She used it for 20 minutes at a time. I think probably ice would be better than heat after a surgery, as ice/cold helps reduce inflammation. I'm not sure the weight of this would be nice on top of a wound. I imagine it might irritate it. But, again, I'm no doctor.
