Does it work on the smaller trays on United 777-200 and 757-200?

Can you leave this attached and fold the tray up? Or do you have to take it off to fold the tray up?

Unfortunately the tray has to be removed before putting the tray up in the locked position. The tray can move up and down with it attached but not locked.
