Let's not beat around the bush here, the best thing about this kit is the actual case.We were down in London just before Christmas doing a cabling job, and got this kit. Out of fifteen cables wired up, 2 were sucessful. I though we were just bad at it until we borrowed someone elses toolkit - and the difference was immediately apparrant. Not one wasted cable.Went back to these tools afterwards, and same result; non-working cables.So .... the cutting tool is of poor quality and often cuts into the internal cables rather than just the sheath. Even a careful three quarter turn can cause this. With a proper cutter you don't have to worry about that.As for the main business, the crimping too, the metal is way too flexible and works on a pivot. This means that the crimping teeth do not come down directly onto the grooves of the plug. This design together with the flexing metal handle meant a lot of frustration and a lot of thrown plugs.The cable tester is 'OK' but nothing special and a 15 year old tester I have is far more informative. I never needed to use the punching tool.So the case is now home to my old tester, and another crimper I bought off amazon which is far more sturdy where the crimping teeth come directly down onto the grooves of the plug and again, every cable worked.This crimper in fact :  Silverline 633594 8P8C/6P6C Crimp Tool , is much better.Avoid this kit.-----------------Update 25/01/2012 - the tester's given up the ghost now. It reports faults in cables that are fine (and my old tester verifies is fine).

Broken Led right out the packaging.power on button very very flimsy and may fall of soon.rubber bands which hold things in place are super tight and may also rip our f worn.pliar slot for the connector for applying pressure is very tight and hard to fit or remove if done with crimpingpliar has lots of unprotected and sharp edges such as the blade for cutting wirebuy somewhere else if you want something better than this.never again this brand !
