This is a great strainer. I definitely will not recommend using it to strain vegetables. Because it could be hard to clean or to get any residue from the very tight spaces in the bottom of this strainer. This is great to use to strain pasta and rice. I wouldn't use it with anything else in my opinion.

This fine mesh strainer is reminiscent of the sturdy models that we used to have years ago. I have used it several times since my purchase, and I am very pleased with stability, and quality.

This item had a metal piece that's sticking out and it got into my finger into my skin and was stuck there, it was very painful. Took a few second to get it out. Did not expect this and very disappointed.

I keep this in the refrigerator to hold my tomatoes to prevent less damage while they are waiting to get used. Sturdy and functional.

This is a replacement for colander that broke. It will be used frequently.

Perfect for rinsing rice, quinoa, and other small grains. Large enough to be functional.

Review for fine mesh 4qt colander: The mesh is much finer than the picture shows and appears to be woven to the bowl shape, making the openings more uniform than if were formed from a flat mesh sheet. The wire seems to be heavy enough gauge to last and it is well crimped at the top edge of the sturdy top ring. The base is not attached to the mesh making it easier to clean than colanders with attached bases that trap food. The mesh won't let any rice through; the openings are about the size of sugar grains. I seldom leave 5 star reviews, but this deserves them all.

Use it all the time to wash rice.
