My experience has been that most bike thefts are crimes of opportunity. Most thieves go for the easy marks: bikes left unattended with no locks. Generally, when a thief sees a cable and lock (of even small size), he'll look for an easier and quicker target. The cables about a foot shorter than I'd like, but with these cables, you can tie two bikes to a lamp post, fence, or what have you with no problem. The plastic coating is excellent for looks, feel, and scratch protection. The built-in loops for a lock are just about perfect. They weigh next to nothing and easily fit in a bag under the saddle or in a jersey pocket.

I bought to keep my quad from being stolen if I was away. It won't stop a determined thief but it gives me peace of mind. It is nice and long and it works great.

Compare to Onguard Akita Loop Cable Lock (53cm x 5mm) that I bought at the same time, this one is thin and long. I was amazed at the difference in thickness being 3mm and 5mm. The two end loops are equal in diameter and can accommodate pad locks. However, if you are using a u lock that secures bicycles, this is not going to work. Because of the cable thinness, this is pretty light in weight, despite the length. If you want to secure your wallet with your purse/tote with it instead of a chain, it is long but can work. It can also secure 2 pieces of luggage to a fixture (like heater) in your hotel room. Anyhow, you need to figure out what you are going to use it for. If it fits, this is a good buy.

I purchased this to use to secure a bag. I keep a tool bag behind the rear seat of my Jeep Wrangler and in the Summer I am usually without a top on the Jeep. This makes my bag an item of opportunity for thieves. All I wanted was a cable that was sufficiently strong that it couldn't be easily ripped off. This fit the bill perfectly. As you can see in the picture, I have attached a lock to the zippers and then I ran a this cable through the lock and around the rollbar. This will not deter a determined thief with a little bit of time, but it will deter a "snatch and grab" type thief that wants to grab the bag or something in the bag and run. The cable seem quite sturdy and was long enough for my needs. I bought these cables specifically to add extra security to stored pelicans on my rooftop basket during a cross country trip. I wound up hitting those Midwest storms back in late April. While not used for the purpose of latching my boxes down, they did handle a little more stress than I had intended them to and did it without incident. Despite the rain and humidity, no rust was noted after two weeks nor did I see any form of bird caging or fraying. They seem thin but performed well.

These are MUCH thinner than what I thought they would be, but they seem to be doing the job I needed them for. I bought some Talavera Pottery planters for both sides of my front porch. They weren't cheap, and there is quite a bit of petty theft in my neighborhood. I attached them to the railing of my front porch using these cables. They could be VERY EASILY cut through, however, they provide a bit of discouragement to thieves, and by then my dog might hear them and alert me! As the picture show, you can barely see them, especially from the street.

Nice set of long cables, which can help to deter any passerby to snatch your items. Downside: though if someone was really motivated, they could like use a strong cable cutter to cut through.

they arrived complete far easier than me trying to make them up and they are ideal for securing valuables not to get stolen , sure they can be cut but then the thief is seriously wanting your kit and you should have bought something more substantial
