Switched out the shoe lace to make it work for us

This worked better for us then a regular shoe because we could set it on a table. Could I have easily just punched some holes in a piece of cardboard and have gotten the same result? Maybe. But I think the design was more visually appealing to my son who just wasn't interested in learning to tie his shoes. The shoe laces were too thick and short for my son to grip well so we switched them out for a stiffer shoe lace and he learned pretty quickly after that
