Nice subtle fish spice
being in a new spice to me, I really liked it. It tastes really good and has a lot of flavor to fish. But I don't add much because I like to taste the fish. It's got a nice subtle flavor.

I'm sold
I'm not much of a fan of pre-packages herb and spice mixes, but I've been hearing about Old Bay for so long that I had to try it. I was excited to give it a go when it arrived, and I was preparing to cook some hamburgers. Normally, I'm a hamburger purist, preferring pretty much just salt on my burger patties, so this would an interesting experiment. My initial reaction is that this stuff stinks like crazy when you cook it, but the flavor is something else. I seasoned my patty very lightly. The sear on the burger developed a really delicious flavor, but the overall effect was so very subtle that I probably wouldn't have suspected that I had used anything at all to season it. Really, the flavor just naturally tasted what I thought a really good hamburger should taste like. I decided to compare it side-by-side with Lawry's Seasoning Salt, which seems to be the gold standard in much of the midwest, and it wasn't even fair. Lawry's, even when used very lightly, tends to overpower the flavor of the hamburger, and not in a good way. The Old Bay seasoning seemed to work with the flavor of the hamburger to somehow make it better. In fact, since a hamburger is a convenience food for me, there is a high likelihood that I'll be using Old Bay seasoning on all of my hamburgers from now on. Going to try frying up some chicken tomorrow.
