Is it exactly the same as the original? Without having them side by side, I can never know. However, my friend has the TubeTech, and I can tell you that my vocal takes and his both sound great and I don't hear anything that makes me think I'm using an inferior compressor. I regularly hit mine hard and it performs admirably well for vocals, bass guitar and voiceover. It's my number one, goto comp - and I have a Distressor, Fatso, six 1176's, 2 LA-2A's, a Manley Elop, a Neve Portico - I could go with any one of those but the WA-1B just works so well and the compression works so well that I don't feel like it takes away from the performance. The others are all amazing in their own ways but sometimes I just want something that elevates my performance and doesn't take my attention away from it. Try hitting a vocal hard with an 1176 - you will notice it - it pulls you away from the track. I dunno. I really like my WA. Keeping it.
