Akko V3 Penguin Tactile Silent Keyboard Switch for Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, 5-Pin 50gf Quiet Pre-Lubed Switches with Standard MX Structure (45pcs)

Video note: the first switch (Z) is the Penguin, (X) is the KALH Hush Deep Sea Tactile, and (C) is the Boba U4 65g. The rest are Penguins. No dampeners or anything, stock. Extremely consistent switches. The amount of lube they come with is perfect for me. These are a little heavier than your Gateron browns (by 10g I think) but it wasn't much of a noticeable change for me. They are the quietest switches I have found that also have a very strong bump. In my case I was interested in a sharp bump to give me feedback on when it was actually pressed. There is no travel. I tried the Gateron Browns, knockoff blues, K.A.L.H Hush Deep Sea Tactile, and Gazzew Boba U4's (65g) and the Shrimps (67g). I noticed the these require noticeably less force (these are 55g) and they are quieter than all 3 of the others mentioned. The Deep Sea's being the loudest, with the Shrimps and Boba's being second loudest. (All 4 were quiet, but the Penguins were quietest). The Shrimps had a noticeably sharper bump but a less refined feel. They were closer to your cherry MX blues but felt hollow and cheap. The penguins have a slight "thud" and a smooth feeling click all the way through, aside from the pronounced bump before activation. I also noticed that when fully assembled in my keyboard, they had the least vertical "wiggle" than the others mentioned thus far. This is not really noticeable though. They sit higher than the Boba's and lower than the Deep Sea's. Very minimal difference. I didn't get the Shrimps recorded in the video. Overall perfect this is the perfect switch. A lighter version would be nice though (its a little lighter than avg for these types it seems). I noticed it also has got some padding on the bottom for quieting them, but it doesn't feel mushy. If you need them for a full keyboard though buy directly, it should be cheaper even with shipping. Will be buying these for all my keyboards from now on. Buy em!

Awesome silent switches. I got these to swap out some browns in my work keyboard. I still wanted the tactile fell, but needed something near silent to use on an open office environment. Swapped these out and I was amazed at how quiet they are. My keyboard is now quieter than the cheap membrane keyboards that come standard in my office. But, they still have a great tactile feel. You know without a doubt when the key has been pressed. They're installed in the standard way. Just pop out the old ones and plug in the new ones. I swapped out a 70% TKL and a separate number pad in less than a half hour. They're pre-lubed so no extra steps to take. Overall, very happy with these.

So far these Penguin switches feel super nice to type on! They are so quiet, it feels like I am typing on an old silent MacBook Pro (or Powerbook) keyboard from way back in the day (pre chicklet). These switches are replacing standard Cherry MX switches and RK "creamy" switches. Generally I like a little click, but what's more important to me is tactility. The cherry MX offered the firmer tactile feel I like but they were far too loud for long writing sessions and late night gaming when I'm trying to be quiet. The Royal Kludge were quieter but did not offer any tactile feedback, they were too soft and squishy feeling. On the hunt for something that offered best of both switches, I saw a few murmurings about the Akko V3 Penguin. I figured I'd give them a shot, for the price it was worth the risk. So far I think I like them quite a bit, they are a lot quieter than what I was expecting (which is good) They also offer a nice actuation. Doesn't feel too soft, there's a noticeable click but it's not audible. One of the other great things is, they are molded to allow light pass through so my keyboard is now brighter than it was with the cherry switches. There's a lot more color saturation. I tried to capture it int he photo. The MX side was not as bright as the picture makes it look, but you can still see a noticeable difference in color fullness and light saturation. I have not had a chance to try them with gaming, but I think they will be pretty good, they have a nice feel when typing, I imagine it will translate well to gaming as well.

Somehow Akko figured out a way to make silent-ish switches that do not compromise on tactile feel. Compared to a panda or a regular brown switch, the tactile bump is more pronounced while feeling rounder. The Penguin’s bump feels like going over a speed bump smoothly in a car while regular brown switches feel like hopping off of a curb. Factory lubing is excellent too. Very little to no scratchiness or spring ping in my set. Without an LED diffuser, these only let a minimal amount of light through even on a south facing keyboard like mine in the video. Installing them was a breeze, and akkos tray+case packaging is excellent. Typing on these is so smooth and they work well with such a wide variety of key caps. They’re honestly great switches for extended periods of writing and typing, and when you’re done working, the tactile bump also makes them great for gaming. The experience feels luxurious, buttery, and consistent. They’re not perfectly silent per se, but they are so much quieter than a regular switch. Quiet enough that you won’t risk bothering anyone near you while typing up a storm.

I originally purchased the Durock Shrimp switches, but after a few days of use, I realized they felt a bit too heavy for my needs. Since I type extensively for work, I wanted something lighter and easier on my fingers. The Akko Penguin switches feel like a great alternative. They offer a very similar tactile experience to the Durock Shrimps but require noticeably less force, which has helped reduce overall typing fatigue. They’re also a bit quieter, which is a nice bonus. On top of that, they’re more affordable, making them an even better value. The only downside I’ve noticed is the LED shine-through. Compared to my original switches (which are still installed on the F keys), the Penguins appear significantly dimmer. Overall, they’re a solid choice if you like the feel of Durock Shrimps but want something lighter, quieter, and more budget-friendly.

I was looking for a set of office-friendly switches that offer an early prominent tactile bump, slightly heavy tactile force to mitigate typos, cushioned bottom-out and muted top-out. The Akko Penguin delivers on all these in spades, and is even affordable. Being a mechanical keyboard newbie, I can't really comment on durability, but none came apart after a round of installing and pulling these from my RK R75 (can't say the same about Keychron's K Pro browns). The Penguins are quickly becoming my go-to tactile switches for alphas (I prefer something slightly heavier for function keys).

This is it this is the switch. That's it. Oh you need more? Fine. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- [FEEL] How does it feel? It feel like making sweet love to the keyboard. The tactility is slightly above average - a nice little bump in the chunk - but the slide down is buttery smooth. I'm talking two slugs in a baby oil waterpark smooth! However, there really isn't a whole lot of resistance, in my opinion. There is a good amount of travel though, so your fingers will have plenty of space to get into it. [APPEARANCE] I mean...they look kinda cute if you associate them with a penguin, but you aren't going to spend a whole lot of time staring at them, are you? "Well, what about transparent keycaps?" No. They do not pass the transparent keycap test. A yellow stem on a white housing doesn't look as cute when you can no longer see the lower housing. Looks less like a bird, and more like bird poo. But again, you aren't going to be staring at the switch. You're not me writing this review... [SOUND] Let me be honest. I brought these because after 'doing' mechanical keyboarding for a year, I didn't believe there was a such thing as silent. Quiet, yes. Silent, no. But I was wrong. These switches are a lot quieter than I could have ever anticipated on both the down press, and the return. It's like some weird form of techno magic... seriously my mind has been blown. I've compared them to another silent switch (Silent Shrimps), and these are by far the better option in my opinion. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- [BOTTOM LINE] If you want a solid mechanical switch that doesn't make much fuss, and practically begs you to spend time touching your keeb, this is the one. There isn't anything else that needs to be said. Bite the bullet, and add this to your cart immediately. Just do it!

My current favorite switches. I like a tactile switch - was previously using the Keychron silent banana switches. This is a great alternative. Slightly lighter on the press, but much quieter and much more consistent than the Keychrons are. That said, and this is the same of all the silent tactile switches I've used - the tactility seems dulled. I would still prefer a satisfying tactile feel without the bottoming or rebounding sounds of a normal tactile switch. Overall, I really like these. Ordered a second set for another keyboard. The only downside is that I always have a bunch left over because a 104-key board requires 3x45 pcs, remainder of 31. Not enough to do anything with - and after two boards, I'll still have 17 extra. These are a great switch for a daily driver, or an office keyboard. I don't think anyone will complain about the noise. They are crazy silent and they still let a bunch of light through if you have RGB, even though they're not transparent and they have black bottoms.

I have installed to the main raw of the keyboard, it is realy silent and you can feel the force get the feedback. For me I was expecting a higher force but this also works. BTW, I like the package.

Uso um Husky Hailstorm sem nenhuma modificação prévia e é minha primeira experiência com troca de switches (Gateron Red -> Akko Penguin). Em comparação com os Gateron, os Penguins são bem mais macios, gostosos de digitar e super silenciosos. O RGB fica ligeiramente mais apagado mas ,dependendo de quais switches você trocar, a diferença é praticamente imperceptível.

Akko Penguins are definitely as good as the reviews I've watched have shown. I wanted a quiet keyboard and this allows me to be typing late at night without disturbing anyone in the room beside me. For now I only bought a single pack of 35, and left the function keys and other symbols with the original keys (Epomaker Zebra Switch, very thocky). It helps distinguish when I've pressed non-alphanumeric characters, so might be a better setup anyway for writing code. I might experiment with other quiet switches later on, but for now this definitely gives me everything I need.
