Ultimate Spider-Man By Jonathan Hickman Vol. 1: Married With Children Review: A Great Starting Point / What The Readers Want - This is the Spider-Man comic I have been waiting a decade for. For some reason with Marvel Comics these days there is a mindset that Peter Parker and Mary Jane cannot be happy by staying married together ever since the release of the terrible storyline One More Day. Nick Spencer almost undid this terrible decision but was prevented from doing so. The series gives readers exactly what they want by starting it off with Peter and MJ already married and with kids. This is a brand new continuity that is separate from the old Ultimate universe that welcomes readers with a new starting point. Peter is not yet established as Spider-Man and the story is about him gaining his powers while he is an older and more mature individual. There are quite a few surprises that I will not spoil, but it will demonstrate how this is not the same universe as the original 616 universe. I have to hand it to Jonathan Hickman as he is a great writer that is able to grab the attention of his audience and keep them invested in what happens next. This was apparent on his previous runs with Avengers and New Avengers. Also, the art by Marco Checchetto is top tier as this man is one of the best artists working in the comic industry currently at this time. Check out this comic if you are looking to read a good Spider-Man series. Review: Finally Peter gets to grow up - Amazing art and story that is down right fun to read. Fans finally get to see the adult Spiderman deal with crime, bad guys and of course his family- the wife and kids. Its also gives a new spin on all of Spiderman’s cast of both friends and enemies. Don’t pass up on this one.

A Phenomenal, Fresh Take on Spider-Man
As a lifelong Spider-Man fan, I’ve read countless iterations of the character, but Jonathan Hickman’s Ultimate Spider-Man is something truly special. The story is original, bold, and absolutely phenomenal, breathing new life into the mythos while still respecting what makes Spider-Man great. Hickman has long been one of my favorite writers—his work on X-Men, House of X, and Secret Wars was groundbreaking, and he brings that same level of depth and world-building here. The storytelling is sharp, layered, and gripping from the very first page. And the artwork is absolutely stunning. Every panel is beautifully crafted, capturing the emotion, action, and energy of Spider-Man’s world in a way that makes it impossible to put down. This is exactly the kind of fresh, innovative storytelling I was hoping for. If you’re a fan of Spider-Man or Hickman’s work, this is a must-read. I can’t wait to see where this series goes next!

Good Story and Good For Reading Over and Over
Pretty good storyline in this comic book. I read through it pretty quick but it’s still seems like one of those books that are good to read over and over again.

Best Spider-Man book out there!
I really enjoyed this first volume of ultimate Spider-Man. As a (sort of) adult myself I love the new twist on the origin with Peter being a grown ass man with in his mid to late 30s with a career & young family when he gets the the powers this time instead of geeky teenager who is perpetually in his 20s in the 696 Marvel universe. Really enjoy the different take on Green Goblin as well and looking forward to seeing how everything plays out with the whole mission and greater conflict laid out in this book. The artwork is stellar and the writing is really sharp and crisp. Peter has never been more likable & charismatic and MJ & Gwen Stacey have never looked hotter. I could not recommend this book highly enough if you are a Spider-Man fan. As a matter of fact I enjoyed this book so much that I read it twice which I very rarely do.

Incredibly Fresh and Fun Take on Peter Parker
I love this entire concept. Without giving away too many of the details, the premise here is that Peter Parker didn't become Spider-Man until he was almost 40. So rather than having the awkward teenager bumbling his way through school and chores, you've got a character that's married with kids and is only now trying to learn how to be a superhero. If you want a fresh take on Spidey, this is it. Can't recommend it enough. (I haven't read beyond Volume 1 yet, so don't take this as my vouching for anything beyond this.)

Fantastic Fresh Take!
Im surprised this book has not been spoiled all over the internet, with how phenomenal and unique it feels to read! This has been the best in the Ultimate universe in following up the Ultimate Invasion short series that kickstarted this universe! Hickman's found a way to nuance Peter's dialogue for the older and less experienced age he is coming in with! The fights and exchanges are oddly unlike any of the millions of takes on this character. The stakes and surrounding family feel new and so exciting to read! Humongous fan of the morals being touted and explored here! The book always looks incredible!
