ApexDesk Elite Pro Series 60" x 27" Electric Height Adjustable Stand up Desk, Sit Stand Home Office Desk, Computer Desk - Curved Oak

First, I can say the desk is really attractive. Quite sturdy in the lowered position (can't speak to the raised position, see below). It went together easily in a minimal amount of time. It was well packaged against potential damage, although the top did arrive with a minor dent on the bottom beveled rear edge. I could not see it, but could feel it as I ran my hand down the length of the desk. It certainly is not going to affect the look or serviceability, so I'm not going to quibble about it. Large items such as the desktop are notoriously difficult to ship, however Apex appears to done the best they can to avoid damage...fair enough. Now here are the problems (there are several): 1. The desk will not initialize (as per the instruction book and the warning flyer included). I've tried switching cables, unplugging power cables, Holy water and ritual sacrifice...nothing works...perhaps I have the sequence wrong. The memory controller flashes an error code (E3) which according to the manual, means the desk is overloaded (weight). Interesting...since I haven't installed the desk top yet. There is lot's of clicking going on in the control module, but the desk does not move up or down. I did note that although the individual parts for assembly all appeared to be brand new, the memory controller was not packaged in the same way...twisty tie had been rewound (badly) and the loops in the cable were uneven and kinked. I think they sent me a return/refurb/defective memory controller. All that to say the bloody thing doesn't go up and down...at all. (The little lights aren't twinkling, Clark) 2. I felt incredibly special when I found a glossy blue paper in the box telling me I had been selected to receive a FREE cable management tray! Sure enough, there it was in the box. Here's the problem...I ordered one separately (and was charged $32) when I ordered the desk...and to add insult to injury, the now superfluous tray never showed up, despite being on the packing list. Refund please! 3. I also ordered quantity two (2) aka: Dos, Dois, deux, due, zwei… duplex/USB power grommets. Billed for two... packing list says two...received one (1) aka: Uno, Um, un, eins. Don't want a refund...just gimme what I ordered. Two holes in the desk...two grommets! There's a void in my life...and my desk. 4. To be fair, this is a nit not a problem, but I believe in being thorough. The instruction book needs an edit. There have been some (positive) design improvements to the desk since the 2/25/18 edition of the assembly guide. Apex: review STEP 5 while standing in front of your product...all will be revealed. 5. Is there a #5? Well, that depends on Apex...customer service hours M-F 8-5 Pacific. Began assembly of the desk on Friday at 4pm ish… discovered it wouldn't go up and down just after 5pm...figures. If Apex can make all this right in a timely fashion, and in their defense, I've read mostly positive reviews of their customer service, I'm fully prepared to amend my review to a rating that likely is more suitable for a fully operational unit. Stay tuned (thirsty), my friends. UPDATE 1 (6/21/19) ONE STAR ADDED FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE Spoke with two nice folks in customer service today. Missing grommet - on it's way. Cable Management Tray - credit to be issued. Non-functioning desk - new undercarriage on it's way (of course, I will have to assemble the new one, disassemble the original, box it up and send it back...). I certainly can't complain about their willingness to make things right. Everyone appreciates businesses who stand behind their product. Which raises the obvious question...wouldn't it be easier (and more profitable) to ship out a working product the first time? UPDATE 2 (6/25/19) THE DESK (AND APEX) HAS EARNED IT'S STARS! The replacement parts arrived today, earlier than I expected, and everything worked. Changing out the legs and control units took just a few minutes. I will send the defective parts back tomorrow. Thank you Apex for standing behind your product. As for the (now operating) desk...I could not be more pleased. It looks great, is butter smooth and is fairly quiet in operation. I read some reviews expressing concern about the stability at full height, I find the desk to be very stable at 44", which is my preferred standing height. The desktop is massive...slightly smaller in area than Texas. I am running dual 27" monitors, slightly offset and I have more than enough room for my large laptop on one side. If you are considering a quality sit/stand at a good value, then you should consider this desk.

Thee Best Desk in all Class. First of All I like to thank the delivery guy for his hard work in delivery my desk unharmed and in good condition. There were minor crushes in the box. The most important thing i look for is detail in each and every corner of the table top desk. It came packaged well, and protected well with thick foams. I found no scratch or tear in the product. One thing I like about the desk is that it is heavy and heavy means high quality and long lasting materials. I choose red cherry because it looks really nice. The setup took me about 40 minutes top to set up the legs and support beam. It was a nice process in learning how and what goes where. The two motors built into the legs works fine so far, and hope it last for more many years down the road. Most importantly it is really sturdy and stable, despite the amount of weight it can hold, 225lbs is unbelievable. I like they included the cable management tray which just adds more awesomeness to this desk. I like the fact the remote has 4 memory buttons and small led screen to show how low and how high it is at. I did not have any problem setting up this desk, and this is beautiful with plenty space to use. I have try highest height at 48" and while trying to lean against it, and still holds or did not budge, unless you are physically forcing yourself to move it, I have placed mine in carpets, regular carpets, not those very thin flat carpets, but carpets that you would see in apartments. It doesn't wobble at all unless you are trying. It is recommended for 2 people to carry it across rooms and to lift it up after you assemble the legs to the top. Customer services is excellent, they are nice and informative, I like that they included the tools needed to complete the setup. which you don't have to go dig through to find your tools. It came packaged well, the illustration is pretty straightforward, although i wish it was a bit more clearer, but it will take a while to study the pictures and what goes where. There are many great things to say about this apexdesk elite series, but i find any cons about this desk down the road, i be sure to come back and add anything i find. But overall, this is a great desk, you get what you pay for. Looking forward to working while standing up in my office and lower it back down while gaming or personal use. Definitely recommend for those who likes to work but wants to stand up while working on a computer or while you working on the desk. This is a heavy desk and built to last long, i hope the motors will endure and last a life time through continuous uses. Into Conclusion, it is expensive, but if you can benefit from using it down the road, then it will pay off. Great product, it functions as it should.

After spending around 20 hours reading reviews, comparing products and prices, I decided on the ApexDesk 71" with memory controller. I'd read about these heavy desks arriving in poor condition due to the shippers treating them like punching bags, motors not working, etc. To my delight, I did not run into any issues. The desk arrived in four days, took less than an hour to assemble and was hosting my gaming rig a short bit later. Packaging of the desk was great. The desk arrived in three heavy boxes and it looked as though the shipper had a rough time handling or was just completely careless with them. Boxes had punctures, torn sides and reminded me of the grinch movie where they were stamping gifts with a big crusher. Luckily, the packaging was covering all the important parts and there wasn't a single scratch anywhere to be found. I was worried about this after seeing so many other photos in the reviews. My desk went from one side of the US to the other, so I don't think it was to get any more rough housing than it did. Assembly of the desk was pretty fast and easy. Site says less than 30 minutes for most users. I didn't fall into that category, although it was assembled in less than an hour. There were around 20 screws and 9 parts, so if you're diligent, I would suspect you could assemble quicker than I did. Assembled, the desk is pretty heavy, so I didn't follow the directions purely. During the last part, I put the table top on with the legs upright and then screwed them in to save the step of flipping the entire desk over. All the screw holes lined up without issue during the entire process except one. There were pre-drilled holes for the memory controller and someone must have used a different controller because mine didn't align to them even remotely. Wasn't a problem to use one of the holes and drive the screw into the wood and make a new one though. Color was a big debate on every desk I researched. It's hard to tell from the photos what you're really going to unbox. I ended up going with the black on black and I think I like it. I'm no interior decorator, so color choices baffle me most of the time. I've had a cherry desk for 10 years and lived through many gray and similar office variations for years. I can say the black does look extremely close to the photos shown on Amazon. Overall, I think it will be easy to add some nice contrast with led lights as I finish my gaming environment. The desk is functioning exactly as I need with the motor so far. I don't stand a great deal, although I'm trying to more just to get out of my chair. I'm a software architect as well as gamer, so most of my life is spent at my desk and it's important to me that I can have some decent posture and enjoy where my butt is planted all day and most nights. The motor raises and lowers the desk in respectable time. I've seen some reviews where they apparently thought the desk should just jump instantly to another height. In reality, you're not raising and lowering the desk every five minutes. You're more likely doing it a few times a day. The difference in a second or two longer to raise/lower isn't a selling point to me (not to say this desk is faster/slower than competition). Motors so far are working smoothly and surprisingly quietly. I've currently got a mid tower desktop, 2x32" monitors, speakers and misc junk on the desk and it is operating the same as it did when I first assembled. I'm adding a third monitor since 71" will just hold those almost exactly for me. I don't anticipate any motor issues with the extra 20lbs. I was searching the brain to find something negative or borderline to comment about the desk. I noticed on Apex's site that there's a blue tooth memory controller, although I couldn't find it with the 71" size desk. It would have been a little cool to have had that maybe being a nerd and all. It would be kind of nice to offer an option for a grommet near the keyboard to save from needing to drill to hide those cords. Nothing a drill won't solve though. None of these are really an issue with the desk though for me. Overall, I'm very pleased with this desk and after having more of a traditional office desk to work from, this is my first venture into this style of desk. It immediately feels cleaner and more sleek. I plan to add monitor mount arms and drill some holes to hide keyboard and mouse wires (argh, drill a hole in this nice desk). I would definitely make this purchase again.

I purchased this desk a year ago, and thought it was time for me to write a review. If I had to provide a tl;dr It would be that it's a solid product, and I think this product will last for a long time. I am not worried about the desk breaking - you'd probably have to try and run it over with a car if you wanted to even damage it. Everything about this desk screams heavy duty. You might be wondering "oh, this desk has a MDF/particleboard desktop, is that REALLY sturdy?" and let me assure you - it is sturdy. Some of the boards I've run across on some of other desks I used in the past gave me this extremely hollow feeling when I knocked on it. It is absolutely NOT the case with this one. The desktop is weighty, dense, and has a quality feel to it. Knocking on the desktop gives me a solid, satisfying thud. Even though I purchased and assembled this a year ago, I still remember how relatively easy it was to assemble this desk. However, I also remember that at one point I wasn't paying attention to the assembly steps and accidentally screwed in the feet to the column in the wrong orientation. Fortunately, fixing this was quick and easy. If you have the manual handy, the mistake I made has to do with the instructions on page 6 - essentially my mind blanked out when I was assembling the two legs and I just assembled both legs in the exact way as shown in the picture, and ended up with two right legs, instead of one left leg and one right leg. Just don't make the same mistake I did! 71 inch model is probably almost too big for my apartment, but that's not really something to complain about considering how many gadgets I like to play with. If I had to write a complaint about this product, the only complaint is that I'm not a fan of beveled edges. If you go through the Q&A and some of the reviews, you'll also notice people expressing the same disappointment. The beveled edge on this desk makes it difficult for anyone to use mounts that clamp on to the desk. If the clamp mount isn't deep enough, it'll end up clamping the bevel, and that might result in an unstable mount. I really think ApexDesk should reconsider the design, or at least provide a way for users to flatten the bevel - perhaps a piece of angled wood that the user can affix to the beveled edge. I knew about the beveled edges when I purchased this, so I'm not dinging them for this - I just wish the design was improved. I did reach out to ApexDesk about this, and they were willing to send me a metal plate that I could put on the bottom of the desk to partially stabilize the mount. However, I'm still disappointed that a large oversight like this happened, given the popularity of clamp mounts. ApexDesk also informed me that they sold monitor mounts with deep clamps, but they were not the type of monitor mounts that I was interested in. If this is an issue for you - you can either take a look at the monitor mounts ApexDesk offers, or purchase a monitor reinforcement bracket. Both of them are available on Amazon. To sum up - I think this is a quality product that will last a while. Even if the motors fail outside of the 2 year warranty - I still can see myself just using the desk without the adjustable part. I'm really hoping it doesn't fail though! This is a solid desk at a very decent price point. There's a lot of options out there, but I'm glad I went with this desk.

I found this desk during a very in depth search for the best desk for the money in the $600 price range, and the reviews all led me here. Most of the YouTube and website reviews everywhere from desk websites to furniture reviews recommend this desk unless you are willing to fork up twice the amount. I have to say, this desk is better than many you would fork up $1200 for! I purchased the 71" Concrete Top, Black Base version of this ApexDesk Elite Series. I will start with what I use it for: I use this desk for gaming and game development. I have two decently heavy monitors that are both 27" and a 17" HP ZBook Workstation (so not a small laptop by any means). They all fit along with my medium sized sound bar, 21 Pop! bobble head figures, my mouse, Logitech wireless charging mouse pad, my giant keyboard, my laptop cooler, a large 12-outlet power tower, and lots of cables and cords. Not only do these all fit on the desk nicely, but I have plenty of room for another 27" monitor (all in a row, none on top of each other), and much more! I love having the space to make games, and use my other utilities I need besides the computer to do it. If you are worried about the space to place everything, don't. This desk will fit all of the things you need, and more! I switched to a standing desk because I had a hernia surgery recently and my back has had issues ever since it went out lifting a bag of beans (believe it or not), and I head many things about the benefits of a standing desk for these issues, and just being healthier in general. I have to agree, in the short time I have had this, it already has helped relieve a lot of tension and pain in my back, and the surgical site is getting better by the day with this baby relieving most of the tension from it. A standing desk really is the way to go if you have back pain or other bodily pains like it. Now for the quality of the desk. I will admit that I have never tried another standing desk, but there isn't a single standing desk of this class and this price with a set of reviews like ApexDesk Elite Series! They deserve those reviews, because this desk, standing or sitting, is stable and durable. I am 6'7" and this desk keeps the top of the monitor and the top of my head level, which is what is recommended for posture, when at max-height (at the 48" setting, which is nice because many other desks do not raise to the height this one does), and sits very nicely when I lower it to my chair's height. It also is very quiet when raising and lowering compared to my dad's and moves at a decent speed. When standing at max-height, many other desks become pretty unstable, so I was concerned when buying this one that it would be the same. I was very wrong, this one has so little wobble, even when I shake it myself, that it is comparable to a normal non-standing desk when at max-height. Typing, moving the mouse, even lightly hitting the table to test wobble will not give almost at all. As a programmer, I look through a lot of small characters and words, wobbling makes it pretty hard to read; I actually have a hard time sometimes when my laptop screen shakes while I use it even the small bit it does. This desk is as stable as I could imagine a standing desk being. The tabletop is also very good quality from what I can tell, it feels sturdy, and leaning on it DOES NOT make me feel like it is going to break. The ergonomic shape is really nice and it truly helps with being closer to the monitors and make the desk all around easier to use. I was happy with the shipping. FedEx gave me a little hassle, but in the end Apex did very well and I got my packages one and two days early. The tabletop arrived two days early, and the leg and other assembly the next day with a day still until the predicted date on purchase. Not only was the desk in perfect condition thanks to ApexDesk layering in plenty of Styrofoam in the boxes and even more materials for padding, but they sent me a free set of cutout covers and a free cable tray. The cable tray they sent me for free is solid metal and very sturdy, and a decent size at that! When I got it out of the box, assembly took about 30-45 minutes from start to first stand at the desk raised up. They had a letter included and mentioned that the cable tray was a free gift and I was randomly selected, and that I had no obligation to mention it in any review I write. I appreciate them going out of their way to be a top-notch company and earn a long-time buyer. I would recommend this product to anyone in the market, my family and friends, and have in fact gotten my dad to the point this is his next desk. It is the best desk I have ever owned, and it is very good quality. The features are rich, and the shipping was quick and easy, just as the setup was. As a college student, I appreciate the space and stability. The price is well below what this product is worth, and I would love to return to buy my next desk from ApexDesk. From the other reviews, this company has the best customer support of any standing desks, and they are quick to replace damaged-in-shipping parts. The thank you letter was also a really nice touch. Thank you ApexDesk for the amazing product! I will update this review in the future if anything changes, but I have a feeling this 5-star review won't go away! EDIT: Nearly 4 years later this desk still deserves the same 5 star rating I gave above. It has been amazing all this time, the electronics haven't even had a hiccup, and the desktop hasn't even had the cover break at all. This all even after disassembling and moving across states with it twice, and disassembling and moving cities once. I would still 100% recommend this product to anyone looking for a quality standing desk that you can use for years and years to come. I currently work as a game developer for a AAA studio working on CoD, so I am using this desk for more than 8 hours per day, plus any gaming or free time I spend on it, and it is an absolute life saver. I would buy again, and absolutely will if this desk ever needs to be replaced.

I spent a good month researching sit stand desks. At one point I'd convinced myself that the only way to go was by choosing a $1500+ model to make sure it was of adequate quality. Ultimately I decided to take a chance on this desk and you know what? The desk is perfectly fine. It looks good(though I'd of preferred a more glossy white finish). The dimensions are perfect for someone who wants a minimalist setup or an all-out command station with multiple devices. Assembly was a 20 minute, frustration free process. It's completely stable at all height ranges. Nit picks: I do wish it came with a memory controller for the height adjustment. It's not much of a hassle to hold the button to go up or down, but it'd be nice to just tap it and move on with my life. Speaking of the up/down action: While I've never been unable to get the desk to the height I want, sometimes it seems overly sensitive to any resistance it senses and I'll have to stop and start the process a few times to get it where I want. I haven't exactly figured out what causes it stop going up or down while holding the button. I know there's a built in safety feature to prevent it from moving when it's obstructed, but I can't quite figure out what it deems as obstruction. Cords perhaps? And there doesn't seem to be much consistency to when it decides to do it. Sometimes it's totally fine, and other times I'll have to stop and start it 9x to get it where I want. Of note, I actually wasn't really looking for a sit/stand desk. I just wanted a large surface area that wasn't a plastic folding table or from Ikea(none local for me). It's really hard to find a desk with these dimensions. But what I love about this desk is that even for sitting the height adjustment is great. All of my previous desks were never quite the right height for me. This one is the perfect height for me because I control the height. Do I find myself standing up while computing? All the time. I have a polar chest strap heart rate monitor and did a very unscientific experiment that would make my 5th grade science teacher cringe. I measured my average heart rate while seated vs while standing and found that, for me, I expend about 10 percent more energy standing. I feel great being slightly more active while doing something that is fairly non-physical like using my computer. I tend to sit in the first few morning hours then stand from lunch until dinner. It hasn't been life changing for me nor have animals started to talk to me when I walk by, but it's nice and I enjoy it. The Apex desk is a good desk. This is one of those rare products that is exactly as it appears to be at a fair price: nothing more, nothing less.

Update: I’ve been using this desk for over 2 years and I have no complaints at all. I love this desk and it saves my back, daily! Only thing I would do differently now, is I would have stuck with the non-contoured desk because I would have more options for monitor arms. The edge of the contoured desk is contoured (not level) on the edges, on the underside, and therefore I have to use Uplift brand for all desk accessories, and have to check with Uplift to confirm it will work with the contoured desk before purchasing. Most things from Uplift are compatible, and also of excellent quality, so that’s the good part. I started a new work from home position recently and have recommended this desk to multiple coworkers recently. My sister purchased one right after I first bought mine, on my recommendation, and I know she’s still very pleased with hers. I also want to mention that coasters are not needed when using this desk. You can put a hot coffee mug, or a cold cup with lots of condensation on it, and it will not damage the surface. I have noticed that the slight texture on the surface of this desk has become very smooth under where my wrist goes when I’m using my mouse but you can only tell by touching it. You cannot see the difference with your eyes. Love, love, love this desk!! The accessories I’ve purchased are as follows: I have the wire management, the additional desktop outlets, and dual monitor arms, all by this brand, and love all of them. Previous review that I still stand by 100%: This desk is AMAZING!! I'm almost 50 and have had a herniated disk since I was 35, in my low back, which causes sciatica. I've been in a desk job for the past 8 years and it isn't fun for my back, to say the least. I've never been able to afford a good standing desk, because the ones that have had good ratings and dual motor options, in the past, were all over $1K, with no extra features (which are needed in my world). I know a lot of people complain about having to pay extra for the extras (such as the cord management and the powered grommets) , but all of these standing desk companies charge extra for each of the extras. I've had this desk for 2 weeks, use it every day for 8-9 hours, and am impressed every minute! It's super stable and moves smoothly (my skittish cat doesn't even wake up when he's sleeping on it when moving it up or down). I'm 5'8" and it goes almost all the way above my head, which made plugging everything in so easy and comfortable! I'm working from home due to Covid-19, but when I go back to the office, I'm praying they will let me bring this desk. Either way, I'll be able to move around while I'm working at home and doing my personal desk work, now and in the future. My back, sciatic nerve and rear-end are so much happier!! The "extras"/add-ons are pretty good. I'll review them on their own product pages, but I'm NOT sorry I purchased them. They aren't perfect but the serve their purposes well, and with a little creativity, all the issues can be solved. The "extras" are also affordable. The desk top is very pretty and doesn't seem to have any issues with cups leaving rings on it, although I've been trying to use coasters, just in case. It's roomy enough to fit all of my excessive computer peripherals that are required for my job, which is spectacular (got the 60"). Assembly was shockingly easy, considering it was me and my 81 year old mother (best friend) putting it together. I think it took us about an hour. The pieces are HEAVY (for us weaklings). The instructions were difficult to find, as they were between the cardboard box and the styrofoam, on the bottom side of one of the boxes. Before we found them, we were able to find a PDF online for the assembly instructions by googling "Apex Elite Assembly," which was very helpful. My desk arrived in perfect condition and with all of the needed parts. Thank you Apex!! :-)

Update for 2020: It has been over 5 years since I ordered this desk. The price is nearly the same, which is great. It continues to stand up (sorry) very well. I've since ordered the memory controller so that my height settings are consistent, but I admit I don't lift it up into the standing position as often as I used to. Even so, it makes for a great 'traditional' desk, and I still have the occasional person asking me what it is and where it is from. The finish hasn't worn in the slightest. It seems to be invincible to everyday use. I've drilled a few holes on the underside for various things, and it is a VERY tough material to drill into, but it hasn't surrendered to any of the abuse I've put it through. I would still say its only downside is the slight wobble when subjected to a good amount of weight. As of now, I have two 27 inch monitors and one 23 inch, a full tower, speakers, keyboard, mouse, about 12 lbs of aircraft gauges, and probably 20 lbs of additional junk slung onto it. Nothing seems to be any less stable. As long as you aren't hammering on it, you'll probably be happy with the stability. If you happen to be very into making music, and you get a bit heavy handed with your weighted keyboard, your monitors might shake. Especially in a standing configuration. But for the price? I'm still thrilled with this desk, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a sit/stand desk that won't break the bank ----Original Review----- In this review, I'm going to talk about this desk specifically, as well as standing desks in general. I have, and I recommend it) -No cord management, even for the cords involved in the lift mechanism About this desk: Overall, I'm very happy with this product. Even as a standard desk, it works quite well, and looks great. They've included two grommets for running wires, and both are located where you'll actually want them (in the corners). The desk is stable, and I was surprised to find I really like the curvature they've added to the front. The desk arrived in three very heavy boxes. The top, the cross bar and feet, and the lifting mechanisms. Each one was quite a bit heavier than I expected. Even so, I was able to haul it all up a flight of steps and put it together by myself. Everything is somewhat straightforward, but be sure to follow the instructions for the t-shaped parts (You'll see what I mean). Also make sure you don't pinch one of the wires between the frame and tabletop. Operating the desk is exactly as simple as you'd expect. Press up to go up, press down to go down. On my desk, I get a audible pop when I get near the very lowest position, and sometimes when coming up to standing height. I was alarmed at first, but everything is still working fine, so it might be normal. About standing desks: If you're like me, you've been all over the internet looking for a sit/stand desk that doesn't cost a thousand dollars. Let me tell you, this is probably as cheap as you're going to find them. It is important to note that most of these companies get their desk frames from the same company, so the majority of their price is markup. ApexDesk's price is simply the best I've found for a desk with these features. EVOdesk didn't even respond to my emails. I work from home most of the time as a web designer and graphic artist. This left me sitting all day long. It turns out I'm a PC gamer too, so when work was done, I'd be sitting some more. I was sick of it. I wanted some options. This desk was the answer for me. I normally start the day standing. It is hard to explain, but I really like being able to just walk up to the desk and work. I also find that I'm running around a lot more in the mornings (Getting coffee, letting the dog out, letting the dog in) so being able to switch tasks instantly is nice. A lot of people will tell you to buy a padded mat to stand on. I personally don't use one (update in 2020: I sure as hell do now. Recommended). Just socks on a hard floor. This is a user preference thing. You can extend your standing time with a mat, but if you give yourself some time, your feet will adjust (Update in 2020: Yes, your feet will, but your spine won't!
