Review: Gripping Psychological Journey - Never Lie by Freida McFadden is another great novel that takes you on a gripping psychological journey of love, hate, jealousy, and murder. McFadden weaves characters that fit perfectly together in a tense, claustrophobic setting that hooks you from the start. I loved how McFadden builds an intense ride with themes of deception and obsession. The characters feel real and flawed, especially as Tricia’s insecurities and the couple’s tensions rise while trapped. The plot is smartly constructed, the twists are unique and well thought out, and everything flows perfectly to keep the suspense high. If you enjoy mind-bending thrillers with shocking reveals, this is a must-read. Freida McFadden has done it again—pure perfection! Highly recommended. Review: Good McFadden. Always a fun fast read - My 5th McFadden. Enjoyable as always. Will now look for additional titles. Like to have fun light reading available. Good fun twists.

Really good read
This book was a great read and kept me invested the entire time. I didn’t see the twists coming because she had me believing another motive all along because of the golden nuggets she sprinkles in. It was a great read and quite the turn of events.

Dark and Disturbing
I liked McFadden’s book in the beginning. Intriguing premise: Newly-married Tricia and Ethan have a realtor appointment to see a well-priced stately manor that just might be their dream house. It’s huge, beautiful and filled with hidden rooms and secret spaces. So far, I’m in. A significant snowstorm develops and the realtor is a no-show. Forced to seek shelter, Tricia and Ethan decide to stay at the house overnight until the blizzard subsides. Tricia becomes increasingly alarmed and dislikes the foreboding atmosphere of the house, but Ethan is instantly charmed by it. They find unexpected food in the fridge and inexplicably decide to wear clothing belonging to the previous occupants. The previous owner, Dr. Adrienne Hale, was a renowned psychiatrist, who disappeared and is presumed dead under mysterious circumstances. Throughout this portion of the book I was thoroughly engaged. The missing clinician was dedicated and intelligent, treating troubled clients in her home. The remote and solitary setting is the perfect backdrop for this taut psychological thriller. The story moves back and forth between Dr. Hale’s life and her recorded sessions with her patients and present day with Tricia and Ethan temporarily staying in Dr. Hale’s home. Up to this point, I was completely invested in the story, so McFadden succeeded on that front. Then, a seemingly-innocuous event sets off a string of retaliatory acts, and the narrative veers off into an entirely different direction. The tone of the story suddenly takes a much darker turn. The reader soon realizes that nothing is as it seems and there is no one to root for in the tale. The big reveal is a shocking twist, that delivers genuine surprise, but I also found it to be deeply sad. I feared for Luke’s fate, and shook my head when good people were casually discarded and killed for simply being in the way. No empathy or heroism in these pages, just callous people trying to justify their malevolence. Not sure what McFadden’s intended message is. Everyone is capable diabolical deeds? I hope not. If there is anything redemptive to be found, it is the innocence of toddler Delilah presenting daisies to her mother with eager expectancy. The innocence is heartbreaking, especially considering that the last portion of the book seems to showcase darkness as if it was a competition to determine which character could be the most abhorrent. McFadden’s book is well-written, and was initially compelling, but when it ventured into disturbing territory with some particularly unsettling scenes, it was just off-putting. I’m holding out hope for Delilah, but was ultimately disappointed by the book.

WOW! Twist After Twist After Twist A Must-Read Thriller!
Magnificent thriller! I might enter a reading slump after this book because it will be very hard to pick up another thriller after such a jaw-dropping read. I listened to the audiobook and it kept me entertained, focused, and fully engaged from page one. It was a solid 4-star read for me until about 70% of the story. But after that… wow. It completely transformed. Twist after twist unfolded, and I truly could not see anything coming. Absolutely incredible! This was a very creative and satisfying 5-star experience. I am so glad I picked it up. After reading two 3-star books from the same author, I was skeptical about picking up another Freida McFadden novel and getting disappointed again. I couldn’t understand the hype at first. However, Never Lie completely changed my perspective. It showed me how addictive her plots can be, even when the story itself may not be traditionally “literary” or complex. Somehow, she keeps you turning the pages. Now I understand the hype around this author. I do feel it will be difficult to find another of her books that tops this one, but I will definitely continue reading more of her work. What I appreciated most is that this book does not feel like a YA-style thriller like The Boyfriend or The Teacher (which I rated 3 stars simply because they kept me somewhat engaged and I was able to finish them). Never Lie is on another level. It is pure engagement and entertainment. I highly recommend this book, especially the audiobook version. The female narrator is incredible and truly top-notch. If you want a “wow” factor after the final page, make this your next read!

Another fun very Freida tale!
I enjoyed this one quite a bit. It has that totally Freida way of convincing you it's all too obvious... only to pull the rug out from under you with an unexpected twist. I always find her books to be quick, fun, easy, and light reads that pack a twisty punch at the finish.

A Twisty Thriller That Completely Messes With Your Mind
Never Lie was such an addictive and cleverly structured psychological thriller. The isolated house setting, the therapy tapes, and the constant feeling that something was off kept me completely hooked. I especially loved how the story slowly manipulated the reader’s perception until the final reveal completely changed everything. Unlike many thrillers that rely only on shock value, this twist felt satisfying and well-built. Fast-paced, creepy, and impossible to put down — definitely one of Freida McFadden’s best works.

Being snowed in at a stranger’s mansion sounds eerie enough… but what if that mansion belonged to a missing psychiatrist with secrets hidden in every corner? 👀 📖 Plot Summary Psychiatrist Tricia and her fiancé Ethan are house-hunting when they stumble upon a secluded mansion belonging to missing psychiatrist Dr. Adrienne Hale. Despite its eerie atmosphere, they become stranded there during a snowstorm. With no way to leave, Tricia begins exploring the house and discovers Dr. Hale’s old therapy tapes. As Tricia listens to them, she uncovers disturbing secrets about Adrienne’s life, her patients, and her mysterious disappearance. The deeper she digs, the more unsettling truths come to light — not only about Adrienne but also about Ethan, forcing Tricia to question the man she’s about to marry. The story twists and unravels in chilling ways, leading to shocking revelations about deception, hidden pasts, and survival. 👥 Character Breakdown Tricia – The protagonist. Newly married, cautious, and slightly anxious, but also resourceful. She’s determined to uncover the truth behind the tapes she finds in the abandoned mansion. Her perspective shapes most of the story. Ethan – Tricia’s husband, initially supportive and protective, but as secrets are uncovered, his character becomes increasingly suspicious and layered with hidden motives. Dr. Adrienne Hale – A brilliant but controversial psychiatrist who mysteriously disappeared. Though absent, she is central to the story through her therapy recordings and the dark history of her house. Supporting Patients (on tapes) – Adrienne’s former patients whose confessions reveal disturbing insights into her practice, her life, and eventually connect back to the central mystery. 🎭 Themes of the Book Deception & Secrets – The novel thrives on lies — between couples, within families, and even professional boundaries. Every character harbors truths waiting to be exposed. Trust & Betrayal – A major theme is how fragile trust is, especially between partners. Tricia’s journey is as much about unraveling Adrienne’s mystery as it is about reassessing her own relationship. Isolation & Survival – The storm and the locked mansion amplify feelings of entrapment, forcing characters into confrontations with themselves and each other. Psychological Manipulation – Both Adrienne’s therapy sessions and Ethan’s behavior highlight the dangers of control, gaslighting, and psychological power. Identity & Hidden Pasts – The narrative examines how people conceal parts of their identity, sometimes to protect, sometimes to manipulate, and how those hidden pasts always resurface. 📌 Quotes from the Book Some houses remember the people who lived in them. It’s the lies we tell ourselves that are the hardest to escape. The silence in the house is so heavy it feels like it’s pressing against my chest. Every locked door has a reason for being locked. Sometimes the people closest to us are the ones we should fear the most. 📝 In Conclusion Never Lie by Freida McFadden is a chilling psychological thriller that blends isolation, deception, and shocking revelations into a story you won’t forget. With its snow-covered mansion setting, unreliable relationships, and jaw-dropping twists, it’s the perfect pick for fans who love being kept on edge until the very last page. This book reminds us that sometimes the greatest danger isn’t the storm outside — but the secrets hidden behind closed doors. Rating ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
