Better than gas edger
Recently I went (almost) all-electric on my yard tools. My last addition was this Ego Edger. I wasnโt sure what to expect. Iโve had a 4-wheel walk-behind gas edger for over 20 years, and it worked well although a bit cumbersome to handle, especially along the street-side curb. This thing just blew that gas edger away. The edger tool is well balanced with the Ego power head, and if you use the strap with it, itโs almost effortless. Everywhere this tool was much easier and more accurate to use than the gas walk-behind. My first use was also the first time the property has been edged in about 3 years so there was a bit of build-up. This handled it easily and the tool is very receptive to your guidance. I was surprised how easy it was to follow curves and how the once troublesome curb-side edging was now just as easy as sidewalk edging. The power is more than sufficient for the job and for me seemed as powerful as my gas edger. I used to edge once, maybe twice a season but with this tool I can see myself getting out more often, maybe monthly, whatever is needed. This is a purchase Iโm very happy with. I added a star edger blade to it and it works great. If you plan on adding one note that the mounting hole is 1 inch, not 5/8 and the edger tool is listed as 8 inch but this one easily took a 9 inch blade.

Actually a really good deal. (Refurbished)
Not gonna lie, I was fully expecting to get some janky half-broken unit that was deceptively "repaired" until you look closely, or even a box with a 10lb rock in it with the price here compared to others, but I got a fully refurbished, clean edger attachment with all the accessories and a manual. Almost looks brand new. I thought hey, I'll give it a chance and worst comes to worst I'll just return it. But I'm actually keeping this because it's what I wanted to begin with. The Amazon Renewed listing is like 130 while the offering here is 90 bucks for the same exact aluminum unit, AND this one is actually ego factory certified with a 1yr warranty. Mine was from jacks small engines, and while I haven't had to deal with returns yet, so I can't speak to their customer service, I can say their shipping was really fast. Really happy with this. Worth it. As for the ego edger. I mean it's an edger. It edges, and it edges well. Strong aluminum construction. Kinda heavy with the battery and powerhead, but you kinda want it to be when edging. I don't really get why people want the carbon fiber "new" edger instead of the slightly heavier aluminum one. Like why would I want it to be more prone to higher travel upwards if it experiences kickbacks? The extra weight keeps it stable. I completely get it with the trimmer or polesaw, etc, but for an edger, this is perfect.

Tall people beware
It really works nice; did my sidewalk edge smoothly and evenly. However, I am 6'2 and the best position for use causes me to stoop considerably which just causes back pain. No matter where I adjust the handle or the edge roller, still am stooped while in use. Like I said, it works very nicely, just be prepared to stop and stretch out your back if you are tall.

A game changer!
For years I resisted having a dedicated edger, despite the number of actual edges my property has. I'd use my weed whacker or, in the old days, just a straight-edged shovel that was sharpened a bit. Labor intensive, but they worked. I'd tried an early version of a modular edger with power supply, an early Ryobi ... but the linkage was sloppy and loose, and that unit was a piece of garbage, so I returned it and stuck with the weed whacker. (NOTE: the newest Ryobi models have, they say, fixed those problems. I have no personal experience with the newer models to compare them though.) I'd gotten the EGO pole hedgetrimmer to take care of some tall hedges I have, so I already had the power unit... I figured what the heck, at worst if the edger doesn't work I can return it. I'm happy to say it worked. Beyond my wildest imagination it worked! This has been a game changer for me. With my weed whacker all the edging would take an hour easily. First time out with the edger, fifteen minutes ... and that includes the break for some Gatorade. The unit has a little bit of a pull, which you can quickly adapt to to let it feed you forward. The only challenge, if I can even call it that, is deciding how deep to make the cut; the actual adjustment is a simple finger knob, so easy as pie to actually do. Hard to imagine it easier. Using the hedgetrimmer pole, I thought the whole thing was over-heavy, not well balanced. But as an edger, gravity does the work for you. Easiest yard chore I think I've ever done. VERY happy with the unit! And the finished look? Far more professional looking that my whacking ever was. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! And no, nobody gave me a dime for this review!

Black & Decker Edger going in the garbage
I live on a corner lot with LOTS of sidewalk. I absolutely despise edging that much sidewalk, but it does look nice when done. I've had a Black & Decker edger for many years and it's such a chore. I typically spend a few hours where I'm miserable. I'm trying to jam the edger forward to get a good edge. Even a new blade with the B&D doesn't help much. I can only manage to do this chore twice a season, at the most. My previous purchase, the EGO trimmer was an outstanding product and made me not hate trimming any longer, so I thought I would give the EGO Edger attachment a try. What an an outstanding product! Instead of the edger needing to be pushed, the EGO is Pulling me forward. My 2 hours of misery was reduced to about 15 minutes. I did blow through both of my batteries, but I haven't done the edging at all yet this summer... just used the trimmer to make it look halfway decent. I'll bet if I do this once every 2 weeks or so, I'll spend no more than 5 minutes on my whole sidewalk. My sidewalk doesn't look so long anymore... until winter comes. EGO, your company really knows what they're doing.

Fantastic lawn edger with typical EGO quality
I wish I had made the switch to all electric lawn tools earlier. This EGO lawn edger has plenty of power and adjustability to make lawn edging a much easier task. I had no issues going about 1" or so below the soil line. Being able to quickly change out accessories from the universal power head is really nice and I now have three other tools that I can swap in and out in about 5 second. The huge benefit is not having to deal with gasoline and mixing the oil and the inevitable leaking with gas tools.

Great tool
Purchased to allow me to use one power head and have multiple tools for my yard work. Worked out fantastically for me. One power head and I have an edger, tiller, and string weeder. Tool head is durable and works perfectly to keep my yard edged. The best part is one battery, one power head, and it saves me garage storage space. I can strongly recommend this tool and my application philosophy

Great product! Worth the money!
Beautiful results! I am 5'2" and found it a little heavy because of the battery - but used to that as I have several EGO attachments. The edger left a very finished look that I could not get by hand. It took a few tries to get used to it. Wear eye protection! It kicks up rocks/mulch etc. Totally worth the money to have beautiful edges around the garden/driveway etc.

Best edger I've used
Easy to manoeuvre along concrete due to metal guide. great cut edge. Needs smallest battery 2.5ah as 5ah is to heavy on it for me. smaller battery last well anyway. Great Product.
