Swingline 1 Hole Punch, 20 Sheet Capacity Hole Puncher, Low Force Plier Paper Punch, Black & Silver (74017)

Bought this to replace the "old school" handheld punch I had. The kind that would give you hand cramps after using it too much or if you tried to punch anything thicker than a sheet of office paper. This thing is better in every way, making clean punches through whole stacks of paper and even thick cardstock, thin plastic, and cereal box cardboard. It is easy on the hands, requiring much less force. It is entirely made of metal, and does not feel cheaply made at all, despite the low price. The one minor (so minor!) downside is that it can be a little difficult to position the hole perfectly ...that is, unless you just open the little punchout-catching tray so that you can see the hole. Then it's no issue. That's the way I tend to use it. But you also develop an intuition after a while, so you can leave the tray closed.

I am very happy with this hole punch. As a teacher, I am regularly using hole punches and often on laminated items. The standard hole punch dulls and even bends after time. This hole punch is solid and tough!

I am so glad I found this product. It comes in handy for punching one holes especially when I am making calendars. Great product. It doesn't hurt my hand to squeeze

Ergonomics? Yes. Soft and smooth as butter on your creaky ol' joints. Punch? Clean and superb. No hanging bits. Clearance? Meh. You'll have to toothpick the punched paper out after each punch, literally. I do projects that need to be sight-aligned so this is a slowdown, but for clean cuts that don't hurt after a bunch of them, I'm ok with that. Thickness - OK. Not great, but not bad to the point that it makes me angry. Can get through one layer of pad-back type board, so that's more than I'd expect. Glad I've got this, way better than the classic ones you probably have in a drawer somewhere.

Product arrived on time as scheduled and in perfection condition. It appears to be a quality product by its light weight construction and easy handling! Like other reviewers have mentioned that it is difficult to gauge where exactly the hole will be punched if you didn't align the puncher on material correctly! Once the puncher is positioned on paper correctly, it works perfectly and easily! The puncher mechanism went through materials with ease and cleanly. The price of the unit is very reasonable.

Better than most hole punches. It has the strength to cut through a couple of sheets at a time.

My purchase replaced a very old product that came too close to pinching me hand more than once and made me leery every time I used it. This is a well known brand name that I have bought many different products over the years and they have always performed very well. It is heavy duty with a much better design and well built.

Quite a solid and sturdy hole puncher, wasn’t expecting it to cut through the card and paper as smoothly as it did. No cheap China wobbles or squishes when using it either, it feels bulletproof when it bites down.

Was looking for a better hole punch than the awful one I have been using for some time now. This one is certainly a big upgrade on the old one I had. So much easier to use. Was difficult to find a hole punch that would work a ways in from the edge of the paper. This one does & I'm happy with it. :)
