Honest review of a nice tool!
This little tool is a game changer! I was a little skeptical but after using it for several days I'd definitely recommend it. My grandson is an electrician and started bringing me home his scrap wire. I made a stand, though not pretty, it works well to set my drill at a comfortable angle. To keep the wire from curling when I run it through, I added a piece of 9" pvc to the front side. Doing so makes it easier to strip as well. I do everything in stages so I don't have stop and go time lost. I get everything I have separated> unwind it> cut to manageable lengths> run it through> strip it> bend it. It's a lot more efficient and faster if you have larger quantities to strip. I don't run my drill at high speeds when I send it through. I don't want to burn my drill out. The mess on the floor is what I was able to strip in less than 1 1/2 hours.

Simple and effective
fast and easy. Once you adjust it to the right size, wire slides in smoothly and is easy to peel. For larger gauges i just ran twice and it easily pulled apart after that

After hundreds of feet - My likes, dislikes and some tips of using this machine
I have run hundreds of feet of all different kinds of wire through this stripper over the last few months and have found the strengths, weaknesses and some things I would change about the design. First, I bought this particular one over other cheaper, exact copies because this one showed it came with a spare blade. As it turns out, a spare blade is not included so right away I had a negative opinion of it and wished I had bought the cheapest one of this style but it has done the job so far on a single blade so the blade life is pretty good. I have stripped solid wire, stranded wire, aluminum wire, romex, automotive battery cable, multi-conductor wire and more styles. I have found some work better than others in this machine. Solid wire is the easiest to strip and stranded takes some dialing in of the cut depth and gets a bit messy but works good - wear gloves! Flat Romex can be stripped with this by using the largest hole to remove the outer cover then stepping down to the small holes for the individual wires inside. Wire with braided cloth-like jackets (old style wire) does not work as well and will clog up the wheels so the machine has to be constantly cleaned, I use a pick. A cordless drill makes stripping wire very easy, I never even installed the handle. I also keep a cable cutter nearby and a razor blade for any missed cuts or cuts that didn't go deep enough or just cutting off excess insulation already stripped off. A pick cleans out the drive wheels when they get clogged up (see photo of gunk on wheels). I do have problems every so often of the drive wheel slipping sideways on the shaft and have to put it back in place with a small prybar and re-tighten the set screw. Lastly, this machine should come with thumb screws instead of bolts to make changing the wire feed size plate a quicker operation as I find myself changing it fairly often. If you use the largest hole, the plate needs to be removed completely and flipped around. When my local scrap prices are about a $3 difference/lb for stripped vs unstripped wire, this machine is a no-brainer and is a money maker worth buying and saving time.

Sharp and precise cuts very well even on stranded wire.
This is a quality machine. It has enough precision to strip threaded wire without shredding it. I've put about 20 lbs. of wire (weight after striping) and I am very happy with the quality for the money to be sure.

Best stripper I've tried yet.
I love this stripper for ROMAX and similar gauge wire. It is light, durable and good at stripping wires. I typically run 3 or 4 gauges through same setting with little difficulty. Easy to adjust up or down for larger/smaller gauges. My primary complaint is that the handle is so small that it makes it difficult to mount. I use the hand crank since it is almost as fast and doesn't cut into my bottom line. Electricity costs and so does wear and tear on a drill. The exercise doesn't hurt either. It is a breeze to set up. I am purchasing a 2nd one for aluminum wire since I do not want to dull the blade I use on copper on low value wire. I mounted mine on a large thick board that I just set on a table top or clamp down on a sawhorse and that works perfectly for me while allowing me to move it around to strip anywhere I want. One idea is if the handle were high enough on the hand crank side that I could mount in the center of the board rather than the edge. I can understand the drill side being low so as to fit a drill onto the board to power it.

Good tool but needs better safety design
This is a solid wire stripping machine and it does exactly what itโs supposed to do. It handles different wire sizes well and makes stripping a lot faster compared to doing it by hand. Definitely a good tool if youโre working with a lot of scrap wire. That said, the open front design is a problem. I ended up cutting my hand on it while using it. It really needs some kind of face plate or guard to protect your hands during operation. Thatโs a safety issue that shouldnโt be overlooked. Overall, it works great and saves time, but the design could be safer. Iโd give it 4 out of 5 stars.
