Good beans. Taste good. Pairs well with creamer or honey. Very hearty black. Robust flavor. Quality of the bean is good. Not oily. Medium roasted.

We buy many of this company’s coffees, and we love to try many others we discover here on Amazon. This is an excellent coffee for those of us wanting a nice deep, rounded medium blend coffee. We consider it our “House Coffee” . Lol. We use a nice drip coffee maker, whole beans ground by us. The thing is, first thing in the morning we go through the first 2 cups ( each) in a jiffy, so drip is the way to get us there! We also use a pour over, and when camping, a percolator (don’t judge).. Blackbeard’s Revenge has always been reliable and delicious. It has a touch of chocolate and perhaps a bit of nuttiness maybe sweetness quality. Please note it is not a flavored coffee! I am not great with taste descriptions for coffee. Sorry. I can say that we have not had any issues with it being bitter or stale or having much acidity. (I save bitter for my 5:00 pm cocktail, hate it in my coffee) We have used this coffee to blend in with a few coffee-fails we have had from our exploring here on Amazon. It is kind to them and brought them up to quite drinkable and even tasty. If this review sounds like a fan letter -it is! I have been drinking it as I write this, time for another cup, in fact. If you are looking for a good all around coffee with some personality and depth, try it out!

Ya ha har! Ahoy, mateys, a black spot upon some of these negative reviews this coffee is getting. While I question the brew methods used by those reviewing poorly, and the cleanliness of their equipment, I, on the other hand, know how to brew a cup of coffee. (for this I used a pour over drip) Usually upon opening a bag of coffee, you can sometimes tell what quality you're getting just from the smell alone. These beans appear a little on the dry side, but put off that pleasant strong coffee aroma we all know and love, which only magnifies upon grinding. Now, this is a good, solid cup of coffee for those in between who don't quite like a black as the night itself dark roast, but also like it a bit stronger than shmedium. I do get the hints of almond that the description claims, but not so much the dark chocolate. It goes down quite smooth with zero bitterness, which for me, gives it all the drink-ability points it needs to be considered a good coffee. Normally, I like my coffee as dark as the black blood of the earth, and while the initial Amazon description had this listed as a dark roast, it is indeed a medium roast, but still quite enjoyable. In simpler terms, it's a good brew to batten down the hatches with on those stormy evenings where you stay indoors with a good book or video game, away from the cold, unfathomable clutches of Davy Jones' locker. Bonus if you have a cat or doggo cuddle buddy.

Fed-up with the 'Starbucks' taste! I'm a fan of Starbucks - and I spend $5-$10/wk at various locations. But for home brew Starbucks taste is just not the same when compared to store bought. It might be the quality of coffee, their brewing devices, or various other things - I just can't simulate the Starbucks taste at home using Starbucks coffee brand coffee. (Note: I burr grind my coffee prior to home brew - I buy whole beans only!) Whether, medium roast, dark roast, Ethiopian, Costa Rican, light, dark, blonde etc. I just can't simulate the store bought with my home coffee maker. Besides, the 'Starbucks taste' appear to side on the dark/french roast appeal. I'm just tired with that! 6-months ago I took the leap of faith by trying several brands of Amazon whole bean coffees. 1- Blackbeard's Revenge, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H8TAD6W/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1 2- Lavazza Super Crema Expresso https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SDKDM4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and 3- Lavazza Gold Selection. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SDIO3E/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm happy to say that 'I found what I was searching for'! I'm been ordering the 3-types (whole bean, of course) for 6-months and have not regretted its. Starbucks home brew is far beyond the rear view mirror. Note: I still enjoy Starbucks store-brew. I am also planning to try other coffee's from Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC. Their products appear to have 4-5 stars with above-average reviews and comments. For now, I can recommend this. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Cheer for now.
