Hard to justify ESP01 when these are so inexpensive
Using these with ESPHome, because it's just so stupidly easy and flexible even if you don't use HomeAssistant. These D1's are so much more flexible with the pinouts, and direct USB-C power, reset, etc. I have tons of ESP01's, but unless I want the smallest format possible or have a workflow for them with a pre-printed circuit board; these D1 mini's are just so much nicer to work with. With a few minutes, and the price of a coffee and doughnut, you can automate, switch, sense just about anything, without needing much extra kit beyond a soldering iron and some wire. The D1 Mini are the perfect fit between small and featured. I rarely need more pinouts than these provide, and they're good for controlling a few things while driving a little OLED as well. Haven't had any issues, other than trying to write at 460800 baud I had some write failures, but no failures dropping back down to 115200. No bricking. I have not tried running these on battery with deep sleep, but I like that this version includes dedicated pins. On the list to try, wasn't a deciding factor.

Misleading product name
No info with the product no online support. Kinda irritated and quite disappointed in thisโฆ good luck with pin orientation and finding out any information about this. If anybodyโs reading this, make sure you understand that is not a D1 it is a lolin d1 mini v4 esp8266. That will get you further in life.

Less then $3 per computer with variouis connector, great deal!
Great deal. 10 computers with wifi for under $30. They come with male, female and dual pin connectors. They run a little slow but will do for about any IoT project. Useful labeling too, don't have to look up which pins for SCL, SDA, MISO, MOSI, ... Thoughtfully designed.

Works properly
This d1 mini is the same form factor as others that I have used. However, the components on the board appear to be substantially different. They even differ from the pictures posted with the listing. I have flashed one with Tasmota and have confirmed that it functions with a DS18B20 thermocouple. All appears to be functioning properly...

Good for any project that does not require deep sleep
Not a bad price for a handful of mostly working D1 minis. The modules that I received are all poor quality clones or rejects from the original manufacturer. I bought these for a low power sensor project. Sadly, that is exactly where these fail. There is a sleep jumper that you can solder together that allows these to recover from deep sleep. One side hooked to GPIO16, the other hooked to.. well nothing. In effect the copper traces are just decoration. If you do put these D1 miniโs to deep sleep, good luck waking them up. Tying GPIO16 to RST (direct or with a 470 ohm resistor) should wake them up again but as soon as they go to deep sleep, they are basically in a coma. That said, if you do not need to deep sleep these D1 minis, they work as expected.

These are good, no diode on the usb though.
These have worked well so far, havnt had any problems with any of them. Do note that the 4.0.0 do not have diodes on the usb power, so plugging them in to usb AND 5v is a recipe for trouble. Otherwise, I like them, usb C is much less finicky and more durable than the old micro.

Consistent quality
Every single one of these boards are working in perfect order. I was able to program all of them with no problems out of the box. I'm very glad someone made a USB-c version of the generic 8266 board.

Deep sleep NOT WORK
Deep sleep doesn't work. Pin 16 always 3.3V Will not work for ISPindel or similar projects.
