Real Grass Seed, Not Filler
This is excellent grass seed. In the past, whenever I bought a $30โ40 bag, it seemed like only a small portion was actual seed and the rest was fillerโfertilizer, weed control, or other additives. This product is 100% grass seed, which made it feel like a much better value and exactly what I was looking for. As the photos show, the hardest part was the prep work. I weeded the entire backyard and turned over the soil by hand, which took about 12 hours. But that effort paid off. Three weeks later, Iโve got solid coverage. After seeding, I bought a sprinkler and watered for about 20 minutes each morning and evening. The results so far have been excellent. I probably overseeded a littleโI used the 15,000 sq. ft. bag on an 800 sq. ft. areaโbut it definitely contributed to the results.

Grows in deep shade
I have an area that is very โpark likeโ. Very deep shade. I spread this with a broadcasting sprayer on loose dirt, no cover. Came back in about 9 days and was happy to see a LOT of green coming up!

Happily surprised!
Have a 75'x75' area I cleared in a wooded section of my back lot to put up a ham radio antenna (yea, I'm a geek...deal with it ๐). Promised my wife I wouldn't take down any more trees than absolutely necessary, which left the clearing heavily shaded with barely any dappled light filtering in a couple of hours a day. Expected to just let the wild ground cover take over, but since the soil was nicely prepped and graded after the antenna work was done, figured I'd give this deep shade seed a shot. Pictures are from September 30th, 2024, 10 days after seeding. WOW! Germination at a very acceptable rate given the cool temps we've had and of course the lack of sun back there. Watered per directions, and I've had to leaf blow every couple of days to keep it from being smothered. Will update this review next spring when I see how it winters over but at this point I'm very pleased.

Like a trip to the Emerald Isle
This was what I was lacking in trying to grow a lush, green lawn. I have tried every major brand out there, S*&##'s, P+^^~^@#&n, R+`+-'s, you name it. I followed directions, I bought a sizable tiller and dug the soil to a 10" depth, sowed the seed per directions, raked it in and then spread wheatstraw and watered it. I spread lime, fertilizer and weed control. They all sprouted and grew till the heat of a Georgia summer took its toll and before the Fourth of July it was beginning to develop rigor mortis. So, I did some searching and found this; I bought a small amount last year and tried it, and the proof was this spring when approximately 50% of what I grew last year came back. That is a phenomenal percentage for my circumstances (our yard is covered with dozens of fully mature hardwoods: red oaks, Southern maples, hickories, poplars, post oaks and they produce a huge volume of leaves in the fall that preclude seeding then and that drop the ph like a lead brick when the tannic acid leaches out). So I purchased a larger amount and seeded the entire yard, which is now covered with a lush, green carpet of emerald velvet. This is some of the prettiest grass you can imagine, and that is with a month of May in which we had no rainfall whatsoever. None. There are spots that need to be filled in next spring but that will be done, along with a proper reseeding, and I am confident that with a modicum of care and maintenance our yard will be a welcome, cooler place to enjoy our outdoors for years to come. This product does exactly what it says it will do if you do your share of the equation.
