Using the correct adapter to plug into a master or secondary phone socket for the country you are in. For the uk I had to buy this separately. Once plugged in press on and if all is well you’ll get a dial tone, be able to make an outgoing call etc. If the line pair is lost you can use the crocodile clips to cycle through pairs quickly without connecting & reconnecting the front plate repeatedly.
