Why did you pick this product vs others?: I had to seal and finish two slabs of butcher block, one new acacia and one 30-year-old maple, to be used as counters. A lot of reviews on various sites pointed to WaterLox. Ease of use: First, the manufacturer's website provides excellent instructions, and getting a tech on the phone for some questions was pretty fast. The product is easy to use. Surface prep takes the most effort, but it would with any product. Depends on what you're starting with. The challenge is drying and curing time. 24 hours between coats: two coats of tung oil and two finishing. I did 36 hours due to my climate, plus, I did a third coat. They want a full 48 hours before much use and 7 days to cure. But total, full curing will go on for a long time. Since all the was in my garage, it was easy. Functionality: Still very new, but looks AWESOME. I used the full gloss over gorgeous wood. Durability: Still brand new Quality: That third coat, that the tech was not in favor of, made a huge difference. The product is top notch, from product to support. Value for money: Who cares. You buy and do this once, so it lasts for years. Dries quickly: Not a fast dry.

Have used this for several projects and I am very happy with the results. Used on some cherry slabs I had. Each project turn out really nice.

Title says it all. One and done with this product on a butcher block counter in laundry area. I don't need a top coat, although it is recommended to use one for overall protection of the wood. I just wanted a natural look and a good seal for light moisture resistance. It is pricey but worth the ease of use.

Waterlox products are a bad choice for using on Butcherblock Countertops. The Universal Tung Oil is intended to be used before applying a Waterlox finish. First, the tung oil will seriously darken the wood so that it does not resemble butcherblock. It is not a good look. Second, in a video ( not allowed to name ) the guy is finishing a 'butcherblock countertop' with Waterlox H2OLox 'water based' finish. This is a bad product with very low viscosity. When I reached out to the company I was told the product was a bad choice for countertops in close proximity to water (because it's water based) and that I should use their Waterlox Urethane instead (mineral spirit clean-up). This confuses me because don't all countertops to some degree come in contact with water? Not just the counters with sinks. Third, Waterlox Urethane while better than Waterlox H2OLox it is similar to an oil based polyurethane only much quicker drying, but it is a bad choice for use on Butcherblock Countertops because it absolutely will NOT fill in imperfections, knots etc. that come with butcherblock countertop material. Butcherblock countertop material is a very different grade than an individual butcherblock you might use on top of a counter. Most people don't want to, or are not equipped to plane off an eighth of an inch or more of material off a ten foot by twenty five inch wide countertop. FOR SEALING AND FINISHING BUTCHERBLOCK COUNTERTOPS A TWO PART SELF LEVELING EPOXY SHOULD BE USED! Yes epoxy is slow drying and requires a heat torch for getting bubbles out before curing, but the end result is a protected, consistent, glass finish, ideal for sinks, water, cleaning, and not much more expensive than Waterlox products or polyurethane.

Great product
