A few more illustrations needed
Great beginning read for my daughter and introduction to chapter books. I do wish there were more illustrations intermixed with the text. Being only 5 years and in kindergarten, a well-placed color illustration on a chapter book page helps my daughter connect with the words we are reading and boosts her imagination for the story. We have other chapter books that do this (Magical Fur Friends series I think is superior to this one. Check it out.) and I find my daughter stays more engaged with the stories than with this MLP series. Magical Fur Friends series has one small color illustration for every two pages and it does a good job of giving context to the story that my daughter still needs at this stage. Still, a good series though.

No box and not as pictured
The books in the picture have an almost holographic sheen to them. These are just regular books. No box included despite buying set new. Weโve already read 4 of the books. Bought them just for the collector like quality of the set. Bought way ahead of time for Christmas so didnโt open all the way to check (since bought new) now itโs too late to return and itโs not at all what I thought I purchased. Lesson learned. Always open and inspect right away. Not matter how far in advance you plan on fitting

Very happy
The shape of the box that holds the books was torn bad (we taped it back together). But the books themselves seem almost new, very little wear which is what we bought the set for. We are pleased with this purchase. Plus it came super fast.

Written for older than 5-7 yo. No outer box as pictured
The way the princess celestia book was written, reminded me of reading Wuthering Heights. Full of metaphors and overly descriptive. The sun is described as a golden orb rising. A bit much. Also the box didnโt come with the set as described which was quite deceptive. It was to be a gift. I didnโt appreciate that at all.

Product didnโt come with the advertised box. Returned it and got a new one. Still, no box.

We are slowly reading this. It seems to be the other books that get my 9yr old reading as she is really into my little pony and her school is allowing her to read them there too.

5 year old daughter loves them as bedtime stories to be read to her. Very few illustrations, black and white but she doesn't need them as she already knows the stories.

Lovely set - maybe for slightly older children
Great set of books, Santa bought these for me to read to my just turned 6 year old daughter. So far we are on the 3rd book and there is a definite difference in style between them. For example Pinkie Pies book had my little girl captivated as the language was suitable. But princess celestia's book was so over descriptive, and the language too advanced for her. It was hard to keep her attention. Only after buying the set had I seen the age ranges differ between 5&6 years plus. So I guess this is the reason. That being said she still enjoys listening to the stories and will occasionally ask me to explain what's going on, which helps open up her vocabulary to learn new words etc.... but yeah I find some of the books a little too advanced for her. Not to say every 6year old would struggle though, so I would still recommend giving this series a go if you have a MLP fan in your family.
