Excellent Unit, Small, Compact and Great Image Quality
So far these units work as they should even though I have not had an incident to record yet (fortunately). Installation was simple and straightforward with the only issue being the 3M double backed tape that is included is worthless at least here in AZ. Had to substitute it with Gorilla brand double backed clear tape, one piece applied to the base of the unit and the other to the mounting surface, this provided the most secure mounting that holds up to the heat here. Overall the memory capacity, design and functionality are all good and it is fairly easy to connect to. At some future point, I plan to tackle the power connection by changing from a cigarette lighter source to a fuse tap system on a switched circuit. I bought 2 of these, one for front other for rear which was a cheaper option and easier to install than other systems that use a small rear camera that connects to the front. This setup also is much less obvious as the front does not require a large and noticeable unit. Another issue with many of these setups, if you have tinted windows as I do, the cameras do not work well with the tint. It can obscure images at night and during the day it can make the image quality very poor and grainy due to the lower resolution that these add on rear cameras offer. So far from testing the image quality, I have not encountered the same issues with this camera due to its higher resolution and better imaging sensors.

Really Good Small Dash cam
If you are looking for a small, good dash cam with great video, this is the one to get. I did a lot of research on dash cams and ended up purchasing this one. Why, the size and the fact that it had the new Sony Starvis 2 sensor. It's only 2K but the video quality is great! On the size, I wanted something that I could hide behind my rearview mirror and this fit the bill. Installation was easy but I did not use the included kit. I used one from Dongar Tech since I have an auto dimming mirror in my car and preferred to use that. It simply taps your mirror power. But the included kit has everything you need to do a clean install. Perfect fit and you can't see it behind the mirror. Setup was easy and took no time at all as you use the Viofo app to do the setup and aim the camera. No need for a screen on the dash cam. One thing to do is make sure you update the firmware. Viofo has great instructions on how to do this on their website. Using the dash cam is easy as it turns on when you start your car. One thing it has that I like is voice control. You can tell it to stop recording, take a photo and save a video and turn on the wifi and turn it off. The video durning the day is clean and clear with detail (although you do get a little refection on the windshield of your dash which can be fixed by using a polarizing filter which I understand is coming). Nighttime video is very good! As good as some 4K video that I have seen from other brands. You can view the video's on your smartphone as it has wifi and download the ones you want to keep. It has 5G so make sure you use that to download as it is quick. Overall a very good, small dash cam that has great features. I'm thinking of getting another one for the back windshield as it is small enough for that.

Small compact dash cam that works just as well as more expensive ones
I was looking at a lot of different dash cams and found this one. Small, unobtrusive and simple to install and use. It doesn't have a screen but you shouldn't be looking at a screen anyway while driving. I already had a power cord from my OBD port for an older dash cam so all I needed was a mini-b to usb c adapter. The reason for the 4 stars is that neither the manual nor the videos say you have to disconnect carplay first (or the android equivalent) before connecting your phone to the dash cam's wifi (at first my carplay was fighting with the viofo wifi) . The phone can't handle both at once. The dash cam is recording constantly but to view the videos you have to disconnect carplay then connect to the Viofo wifi on the app. I need carplay while driving (trailer app, google maps etc while towing) so I have to wait until I'm stopped to view the videos. Makes sense though from a safety perspective. By the way tech support is very helpful over the chat function and they got me through the WiFi issues.

The Camera to buy - Exceptional.
Hello, After a year long study/research on which dash camera to buy I finally decided on Viofo as they constantly float to the top when it comes to various reviews. Save the work reading, I've done ALLLLLLLLLLL the research. I purchased both a VS1 MINI DASH CAM (as well as an A119 mini 2) 3 of each actually. (My car, dads, moms). . I have driven 5000 miles since on a long road trip and have every minute of it captured in high quality video that really looks clear even on my big 70 inch tv. The video looks good at night, looks good during the day. I use a 256GB memory card from viofo (or San disk, samsung).(I recommend high endurance versions as they will be recorded to all the time you're driving). I've captured 2 deer close calls and 2 car accidents already in only a couple weeks. A ladder flying off a truck. Get the hardwire kit, it's very easy to install (youtube your car for fuse panel help)... mine comes on after a 10 second delay and says its recording. I've set it to record for 30 minutes after parking too. On and off all automatically. The app for my phone works well. The voice features are great and handy. If I need to review file i can use app but I typically just stick memory card into my computer and that works best for me. Anyways, I think you'll be very happy with the Viofo cameras. This one in particular is very small, does its job well and more then enough resolution for what dash cameras are about. The image quality is legit. The camera is legit. Though viofo makes cameras that do front and back, I choose to purchase 2 individual units for my car. One independant for front and one for rear. Just wanted to manage and wire them separately

Small Powerhouse with a Digital Leash
The VIOFO VS1 Mini is a stealthy little marvel that punches above its weight in video quality, particularly at night where the STARVIS 2 sensor truly shines, capturing crisp details that many pricier competitors miss. Its tiny design vanishes behind a rearview mirror, making it perfect for drivers who want a "set it and forget it" security blanket that doesn't clutter their view. The inclusion of voice controls and Wi-Fi largely makes up for the lack of a display, allowing for painless footage transfers to your phone. However, this reliance on the app is its Achilles' heel; if the app connection gets finicky-which occasionally happens-you have no on-device interface to fall back on for quick setting changes. While the 1440p footage is excellent and the supercapacitor design ensures reliability in extreme heat, the mount's strict vertical-only adjustment limits flexibility, meaning you need to get the placement perfect on the first try. Ultimately, it is an exceptional value for those who prioritize discretion and image fidelity, provided you are comfortable managing everything through the app.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU HAVE HOT SUMMERS!!!
I bought this thanks to the wham bam dashcam video, and it was 80 bucks at the time. Setup went okay, and it held on pretty good to the windshield. However, something was clearly wrong when it wouldn't stop beeping at me, indicating an error. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the internals had PHYSICALLY swelled up, causing the glass to literally pop off on one side See pics It's a good dashcam, don't get me wrong, but it's not working too well out here in Arizona where it gets above 110 degrees on the daily in summertime.

Unavailable videos unless connected in car. Bad customer service.
I only purchased this because “Wham Baam Teslacam” recommended. Picture is very clear. I’m not sure if the sticky is going to work here in the west when it gets hot in the summer, waiting to see. It doesn’t always connect to the Wi-Fi when starting. I have to keep checking before I drive off. That’s kind of a pain. You can only erase old videos when connected in the car. It continually disconnects during driving.I like that it’s small and hidden. Update: already having problems. Won’t connect to Wi-fi anymore and constantly beeps when plugged-in. I dont recommend #2 Update: the customer service is a joke. I have been corresponding with them back-and-forth for over a month now. I have reformatted many times and now they have left me hanging. I definitely do not recommend!

Using as home security cam constantly powered in parking mode
For this review, I'm using the VIOFO VS1 Mini Dash Cam strictly as a home security cam. I also own the Viofo A229 Pro two-channel dashcam for my personal vehicle use which I'm happy with. I found I can use this small VIOFO VS1 Mini Dash Cam to reliably record an area outside my front door using Auto Event Detection i.e. parking mode. I bought this little dashcam specifically to fit in a small, concealed space inside my front door. It's secured, hidden, yet accessible to activate wifi when I need to monitor live view or review video clips. I found wifi signal range to phone to be ~15-20'. Dashcam includes an 11 1/2' long USB-A to USB-C detachable cable to cigarette adapter. I'm using my own 15' USB cable attached to my own USB-A adapter plugged into wall outlet. Overall, I found it works great for my unique application. Using the app, I configured it to parking mode with high sensitivity. With power coming from AC, it's always on and records only when motion is detected. Pre-buffered images are saved so video and audio are captured before, during and after it's triggered. The images are stored on included SD card. I configured wifi inside the camera to 5ghz for fastest connection. Wifi is turned on after long pressing button ~8 seconds. Once SSID is detected on Android, Viofo connects to Android by pressing OK after initial setup. The short clips saved on the card are easily viewed and downloaded if needed. App requires back navigation and refreshing video list each time after viewing a video, but it's a minor annoying extra step. Wifi automatically turns off when not connected. I like the available customization of functions, it's stealth design and versatile voice control commands which adds additional convenience. Obviously my application is not a typical use case as it's always plugged in and powered on in parking mode. Having used this for over a month, I've had no issues. It's in parking mode 24/7 powered by an AC plug and 15' long cable. It's been reliably recording every motion detected event just as I hoped. Product info is very detailed and accurate on Amazon as well as Viofo website, which gave me confidence I knew what I was getting. Auto event detect in parking mode is reliable. Video and sound recording are clear. The Viofo app allows quick access to check live view, adjust setup functions, scroll through and view saved clips, download clips to phone, or delete what you don't want saved on card. It's all fairly intuitive. Overall dashcam design is very high quality. While not a 'dashcam' review per se, I hope my alternative application as a front door security cam helps someone researching this dashcam.

Tiny and powerful. Practically plug and play. Very happy with this little cam.
Amazing little device. No screen of its own. That’s fine. You can view live feed on your phone (or other smart device) by connecting to the cam’s own WiFi (5G is nice). Using the built-in WiFi, you can also download recordings or plug in directly and bring the videos down. Or just pop out the memory card and read directly from it. Got a Y saddle (FitDVR power adapter) to pull power from the overhead console and avoided running long cables around the trim. So the long and short of it is that I have a tiny high def camera by my rear-view mirror that has a tiny footprint and I barely notice as I drive. BTW, hooked into the dome lights, it powers up automatically and begins recording right away. Total no-brainer; I don’t have to think of turning on every time I get in the vehicle.

Worth it in my opinion. 100% Recommend!
Been using it for about 8 months with no issues, with Dubai heat as well. Reasonably good video quality. Small and discreet, and hides neatly behind my rear view mirror. Has usb connector also which connect behind my review mirror, so it’s completely out of the way with no visible cables. Most people don’t even know I have a dashcam, and to be honest sometimes I also forget. 100% recommend!

Great quality, unfortunate price increase
The omission of the screen and 30fps limitation is perhaps a downgrade from my other car's viofo a119 mini 2, which was also cheaper and years older. But the market is what it is, and this is an excellent quality dashcam.

Great Build and Performance, but Lacks a Crucial Accessory
I’m impressed with the build quality, sleek design, and overall performance of the Viofo VS1 Mini Dash Cam. It’s compact and discreet, making it a great choice for keeping the windshield clutter-free. The video quality is good during the day, but nighttime footage suffers from significant glare, which is disappointing. Viofo recommends using a CPL filter to reduce glare and improve clarity, but at this price point, I feel the CPL filter should be included in the box. Adding this filter would make the product truly exceptional and offer better value for money. Overall, it’s a solid dash cam with great potential, but the need for an additional purchase to improve night footage is a letdown. Hopefully, future iterations or bundles will address this.

Good but not great!
Been using it this camera for about a year now. Overall its *good* but not amazing. Form factor is great, very subtle and barely noticeable. Quick access protected-save button is also great to have. Overall it’s a very low maintenance, trusty dashcam. A huge drawback however though is the image detail. Realistically, unless you’re directly behind a vehicle in ideal lighting, license plates will not be legible. With the wide lens, its also distorts details that aren't really all that far away. The app is ok too, time keeps falling an hour behind on the videos as well. Find that I need to cycle ignition/accessory mode on my vehicle before the camera goes into wifi mode to retrieve footage. A bit cumbersome.
