I appreciate it for what it is
I saw this (or something similar) advertised years ago and have sort of kept it in the back of my mind as an option for dealing with split-ends. It was so new at the time that I didn’t trust that it would work and I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on yet another gimmick, so I never bought it. I wish I would have bought it when I first saw it years ago. We live in a beautiful rural area where hairdressers are few and far between and the hairdressers who live around here haven’t kept up with the more modern hairstyles. My son and I both have longer hair and have been ‘burned’ figuratively, when we’ve gone in for a trim/stylized cut (not texture!!) and so I’ve been doing the comb & scissors split end trimming on us. It is so time consuming and I have to take multiple breaks when doing my own hair.. Finally bit the bullet and bought this and it’s just amazing. It does NOT replace a hair cut. It DOES take care of split ends. Compared to the scissor/comb method I was using, it literally does the same thing but so so so SOOOOO much faster. My son didn’t complain one time and sat for the whole process without needing to get up and move around or anything. We have straight, fine, thick, of European decent hair and it worked brilliantly for us. I bought some carbon fiber rat tail, fine tooth combs to use with this and would highly recommend a person does the same. The comb it comes with is more like a wide-tooth hair pick than a comb. It did pinch/pull at some times where a strand would get caught up between the plastic components. It was not an issue of needing a smaller piece of hair, it was more of an issue of the teeth on the device being so long it was difficult to get a section of hair between the top and bottom pieces. I was able to correct the pulling while doing my son’s hair by really taking my time and going slow. I had a more difficult time with it on my own hair because it was harder to see. My son’s hair (pictured) was cleaned the night before and the process of using the split-ender was simple and smooth. My own hair (not pictured) was 3 days post wash and had a ‘plex’ styler in it and the process was still simple and smooth. My hair is box lightened (damaged) and is at about 35% overall gray. I was worried about the more wiry grays being difficult to trim or being shorn entirely but that didn’t happen as far as I can tell. Hair styling tools, for me, are an investment. I usually go down the middle when it comes to quality and price of product. It’s not about the name of the product but more about the results. To me, this is well worth the investment. I bought the mini for around $80 I think. I don’t feel the need to buy the full size. I used it while it was on the charger to do my son’s hair and then took it off the charger to do my own hair within about 15 minutes of having finished his hair. The battery lasted thru the whole process when it was off the charger. I didn’t think to document the time it took for either trim but if I had to estimate (erring on the side of caution) I’d say it took 45 minutes to do my sons hair and an hour to do my own? Maybe a little more on my own as my brain has trouble computing the whole mirror image thing. The lit up directional arrow was a godsend in that regard. Haha TLDR; It took care of our split ends (even on my dirty, damaged, gray hair) and is truly, genuinely worth the buy. Oh, and use a fine tooth comb and go slow!

Great in the short run, destroys your hair in the long run
I felt compelled to write a review because I'm a licensed cosmetologist and I feel like an absolute idiot for falling for this. It's like the get-rich-quick scheme of hair trimming! I did some chemical processing on my hair a few months ago and noticed some split ends after everything was said and done, which was expected. I knew I needed a trim, but didn't want to sacrifice much length and had always wondered about this product so I figured I'd give it a shot. I saw mixed reviews for it at the time, but you know how it is--you see what you want to see and go against your better judgment because you're excited to try something new. It arrived and I ran it through my hair and WOW did it look better fast! A lot of my split ends were gone, my hair was soft and more manageable and I didn't lose a ton of my length....I was sold! Until a week later when I noticed that almost every hair on my head suddenly had a split end. I thought it was odd, but figured.....maybe I somehow didn't notice them and the condition of my hair was worse than I initially realized. So I ran it through my hair again and boom....soft hair, no split ends, fantastic! Until a week later when again.....almost every single hair on my head had a split end. I was baffled! I've been colouring and using heat on my hair since high school and have never experienced this kind of damage--and I now use my iron at 100 degrees cooler of a temperature than I did then, with a heat protectant spray. This shouldn't have been happening....it made no sense! I started searching online with the heading "split ender made my hair worse" and I learned a lot. The blades inside the machine aren't razor sharp the way shears are, so it doesn't create a clean cut. It basically chews and rips your ends off instead, causing a fray in the hair fiber which then turns into a split not long after. If you're looking for a trim without sacrificing much length, this is not the godsend it appears to be. I ended up taking shears to my hair and cutting an inch off just to rid myself of all the split ends before they got worse. I ended up losing more length in the end than I would've had I just trimmed it in the first place. I'm so upset with myself for falling for this and I hope that my experience warns the rest of you away from doing the same to your hair. I know it's not ideal when you're trying to grow your hair out, but going and getting a good trim from a licensed stylist with real shears is truly the way to go. If you go regularly, the length lost will be so minute you'll barely notice it and you won't be filled with regret as you gape in awe at your shredded hair a week after using this like I did. Learn from my mistakes, ladies.....save that beautiful hair of yours and do not order this product!!! You deserve better than chewed up, split, fried ends!

It worked GREAT for my very damaged hair!
I was not sure what to expect but I thought I'd give it a try. My hair is damaged from coloring and is sort of broken off at difficult lengths. I'm trying to grow it out so I don't get it trimmed very often (it breaks off so I don't really need to get it cut unfortunately unless I want it to be super short). I tried this and was really surprised that it worked for me. I used it and it didn't take a ton off, just some ends and when I went to style my hair, it ended up SO MUCH better and easier to style. It was easy to use, just make sure you use hair clips to hold back the pieces of hair you aren't cutting. I would highly recommend!! I know its a bit expensive but I actually think it's worth it!

It really really works!
I had this little gem for a couple months, I use it every three weeks as instructions. I also used it a couple days after I colored my own hair. My fine hair has never looked better! It like a flat iron, but with teeth. I not only do more then one pass, I do front & back of selected section. Overall, my average time infusing this product is 15 minutes. I get a really expensive haircut (very family discounted) but sometimes it's hard to visit said fantastic. Excellent relative that does such a wonderful job. So far, I have maintained this fabulous haircut until I can get back to seeing fabulous relative to give me one. I can't believe how long my hair is getting & and I'm finding it more manageable and softer. This is the best thing ever! And this is from a person who just likes to wash and wear their hair!

Pulls on hair
This works ok. Not the best as it pulls out some hair.

Funciona muy bien para recortar las puntas dañadas. Lo único es que si tira mucho cuando la usas, es decir no se quedan guardadas todas las puntas que te va cortando en la cajita que tiene

Me encanta! Tengo el pelo poroso y fácilmente se encrespa y abren las puntas. Después de utilizarlo ves el pelo con más peso, y es que te corta lo minimo para sanear sin perder largo perceptible
