Melts Brake Dust Like It’s on the Run from the Law
Meguiar’s Ultimate Wheel Cleaner doesn’t just clean — it interrogates your wheels and gets every last speck of filth to confess. I sprayed this stuff on, and within seconds my alloys looked like they were starring in a crime thriller. The formula turns purple as it works, which is both satisfying and slightly alarming — like it’s bleeding out every poor life decision your car’s ever made. The results? Stunning. My wheels looked showroom-fresh, like they’d just rolled out of a Fast & Furious montage. No scrubbing needed unless your wheels have been through war (or you live near a volcano). It’s safe on finishes too — no sketchy residue or dulling effects. Just shiny, smug-looking rims that scream, “Yes, I care about my car. And yes, I probably moisturise too.” The only downside? I now stare at my wheels more than the road. Use with caution if you have a tendency to become obsessed with shiny things. If you’re tired of weak cleaners that just whisper at your brake dust, this one shouts, “You have 10 seconds to vacate the premises.” Worth every penny.

Works really well
Wasn’t sure I wanted to pay so much for a wheel cleaner but after reading the reviews I gave it a try. Used on very dirty wheels after a long winter and was very pleased with the results.I did use more than I wanted to as the wheels were covered in dirt and brake dust. Left for a couple of minutes as described and used a soft brush to remove the worst. The wheels turned purple when the cleaner works and then washes off easily. Excellent results showed they come up like new after a quick wash with a soapy sponge. Very easy to use and works quickly with great results. Hopefully I can use less next time as I was a bit trigger happy which will work out expensive. Would definitely buy again as results are very good.

Pretty good but won't shift the really stubborn brake dust - found something that does though!
This is clearly a product that does what it says on the tin and does this especially well considering it's 'acid-free' credentials. I was using this on some very neglected alloy wheels on a 17 year old car - about as tough a test as I could throw at the wheel cleaner. The front wheels especially where almost black in places. The product did all it could on the first application pretty much - after the first spray, a 5-minute wait, some scrubbing with a non abrasive cleaning pad and a pressure wash to rinse off, about 60% of the black brake dust was gone, and the alloy wheel that was restored underneath was gleaming. Very good I thought, let's give it another go. However, it's as if this first application revealed a more stubborn embedded layer of brake dust underneath in some places. No amount of repeated applications or scrubbing would touch this stuff at all. I was about to give up and say to myself 'oh well, it's much better than it was' but curiosity got the better of me and rummaging through the under-sink cupboard I found a can of oven cleaner - Nilco Oven & Grill & BBQ Cleaner (available from Amazon). Now let's be clear - this is nasty potent stuff that undoubtedly contains acid of some sort and is quite clear when you look on the back that it's not suitable for use on some metals, including aluminium. Had I been more precious about the state of the wheels and not been trying to tart up a 17-year old banger as best I could, I would not have touched this with a barge pole... but I'm glad I did! A quick spray of this stuff and bit of working in/agitation with a stiff brush, and the remaining brake dust just fell off the wheels. They are now spotless (apart from the odd chip). There doesn't seem to be any adverse effects on the wheels as far as I can tell - the oven cleaner was on each wheel less than 2 minutes before being rinsed off to avoid it eating away at anything beyond the brake dust!

Brilliant product but incredibly expensive
As with all Maguires products, the quality is second to none and it does a great job at dealing with stubborn brake dust etc. However, the price is eye-watering for what you get and if you “apply it liberally” as it suggests then I can’t see how you would get more than 4-5 washes out of it, which equates to £3-4 per wash (!). It’s a real shame that decent alloy cleaners seem to be so incredibly expensive. One idea might be to pressure wash you alloys first to get rid of all break dust that a simple powerful jet will. And then just spray “less liberally” with Maguires on only the stubborn parts.

Best wheel cleaner I’ve ever used
After trying different wheel cleaners, I wanted something that will work. I read a few reviews about this being the greatest wheel cleaner since the dawn of time and have to admit I rolled my eyes and thought yeah right. A few reviews all said the same and it was my belief that they can’t all be wrong or they are a secret Kabul promoting the very same product. Que Meguiar’s...... wow, this stuff is amazing! (No I’m not being paid to plug this). The wheel cleaner was used on my car and my Wife’s car. Wife has a 16 year old Honda Jazz. The alloys are pretty rough as well as ground on dirt. I power washed them down. Cleaner. Then I added this stuff. Within 2-3 minutes black caped on dirt, brake dust was falling away. It ran down the wheel. Once soaked in an I did give a little scrub, these are the cleanest I’ve ever seen them. I did the same to my Mercedes. Just power hosed them first, squirted this stuff, watched the dirt and dust roll off, and rinsed off, they come up as good as the day I picked the car up. If your a sceptic like me, fed up with trying to find something that will do its job and well....... look no further you have found it.

Works but Requires a bit man power.
I used turtle wax wheel cleaner before it was powerful but had a strong acid smell,so for a switch decided to try this and I am impressed overall but to be fair maybe because of the acid turtle wax did not require to agitate the dirt just spray on an rinse with a power washer and hardly took 30 seconds. Meguiars i left for around 1min as directions but did require a brush and hand scrub to get the all the brake dust out properly.Overall a 4/5.

Brilliant!
Great at breaking down dirt and brake dust on my black alloys

Great product but bottle let's it down.
It works really well, however like others, it leaks on every spray and you end up with more on the bottle and your hands. I probably won't buy it again unless the bottle was improved as the product itself is very good.
