Great radios at a really good price. Working good across all the Freqs I need to use!
Recently got my GRMS license and working on getting my Amateur license. Also use VHF and UHF for public safety work with a Search and Rescue team that also requires us to communicate with various county dispatch centers via our departments frequency or the frequency of various Fire/EMS agencies in our area so I wanted a radio that could cover all of it. I found this 2pack and knowing a few others on our SAR team have Baofeng radios and have good luck with them, I figured they would be a good bet to try. After receiving them, I charged them up and then programmed them how I wanted them using CHIRP. I have all the needed VHF and UHF public safety frequencies we need to communicate on, a few others programmed in to receive only as we occasionally need to monitor some but are not authorized to communicate on them (a couple of our counties have a general dispatch channel to send callouts to mulitple departments and we need to hear information sent over those channels but don't answer on them) and then added the FRS/GMRS channels and set the output for those channels to the appropriate power authorized for them. These radios work great, range is decent, and audio/transmission sound quality is good. My son keeps one of these with him and I have the other and we are able to easily communicate via GMRS and MURS frequencies. We are planning a roadtrip vacation later this year where we will be travelling with 4 vehicles so I will be getting another set to put in the other vehicles so we can all stay in communication with the group easily without trying to do group phone calls while going down the road.

Stunning value
Great value. As advertized. Open box means like new. One had the belt clip attached and was unwrapped. All else was still in wrappers. Radios both function great. Good antenna for air band monitor. Better than most. Easy setup with CHIRP and included cable. If the cables, antennas, and batteries were purchased separately, then the radios are for free. How can they be so inexpensive? And be high quality? “Used” mint for $31??? Thanks Sharkoo and Amazon.

Great quality
Great price and quality. Sturdy and amazing for outdoors, we go camping with friends and could hear each other clearly from different campsites.

Keep your expectations in check
First off: this is not an FRS/walkie-talkie radio. You must ensure that you are legally authorized to transmit on any frequency you intend to use this radio to transmit on (for example, having a Amateur Radio Service Operator License or your jurisdiction's equivalent). This radio WILL allow the user to transmit on bands they are not legally authorized to transmit on if programmed to do so. Second: I tested these with a TinySA Ultra+, attenuated to -70dBm, and mine are NOT compliant with the FCC's rules on spurious emissions. These are dirty radios. Be aware that while transmitting you may meet the legal definition of interference and you may be stepping on frequencies you don't intend to. They also don't actually reach the advertised 10W output, and are closer to 6 or 7W. That being said, these are simple and relatively reliable radios. They receive NOAA weather broadcasts and aviation band out of the box. The battery is quick to swap and supports USB-C charging, which lets you use the same power bank you probably already have in your kit to recharge the radio in the field. They can be programmed manually or with CHIRP on any computer with a USB port. Range is what you'd expect from a HT and is dependent on the antenna you use. The factory antennas are functional but not outstanding. I keep a pair of these around my UAS kit as backup airband receivers, which they work well enough for. For a new ham looking for a cheap starter radio, or someone who lives in a severe weather risk area and wants cheap spares to program and pass out to neighbors during a disaster, I would probably recommend the UV-5R Mini instead of these.

Didn't work for me
Maybe I just got a defective unit, but it would not receive on a consistent basis. Had it right next to my BF-F8HP and it would not pick up the repeater Returning item

Very Happy With these
very happy with these. The longer 771 style antenna is pretty good, but they are definitely generic no-name ones. On radio to radio simplex i got almost 7km range with them in a smaller town. Within those 7km was a mix of houses, businesses, fields and forest. Although being new to Radios, im very happy with the build quality and range of these. The menu is not hard to get used to, you just might have to look up some terms if it confuses you, but the learning curve is not bad at all. Highly recommend
