How long does it last before it needs new batteries?

It gets 2-4 hours of battery life normally unless you use the 48db boost as when you are using unpowered professional mics. With that activated I would guess about 60-90 minutes. If you use that a lot you better plan on having spare batteries. Monitor your audio too as the last couple of minutes before it shuts off is not very useable.

How do you use it to record and does it have a sd card slot to record on.

This device doesn't record. It is just a interface that you connect to your mic/recorder/camera

This will power condenser mics correct ?

Yes. It has phantom power. It will also work with any none phantom power condenser mic.

Is it battery operated?

Yes. It runs on 2 AA batteries installed in an easy to access panel on the side opposite the mic inputs.
