Very good sound quality but need improvements.
I bought (via Amazon.es) one of these Marantz PMD-602A audio interfaces so that I could use my professional microphones in my cameras. The first impression I had is that it had a solid exterior construction, easy to work with the necessary controls well positioned. But something heavy compared to other interfaces and very large, making it difficult to work without being tripod. Impossible to use with Leica SL or Sony A7R, because the camera, lens and interface set is very heavy which is bad for those of you who are always traveling. In addition I liked the system, the sound is good quality, it easily monitors the sound that enters the camcorder and allows to use all types of microphones, professional or even other types of microphones, powered by 12V, 48V from the device or then fine-tuning the power for microphones that do not need or have their own power. I just did not like the output (OUT) for the camera, it is with "LINE" voltages, without a cable attenuator of 35 to 50 dB it is impossible to use this interface in most cameras that only have micro input. So if you have DSLR Canon, Leica, Sony, Olympus, RED, or other cameras that do not have LINE input, you will have to purchase an attenuator cable that always costs more than 30 euros. It is a shame that this device has no way of selecting the (OUT) output to the camera between LINE or MIC levels, as this and without attenuator cable is useless with most usual cameras. Not this issue and I will rate it with 5 stars for the price and quality of sound.
