This works a treat online and offline as long as you read the instructions and download the language you need first. there is a bit of a delay from when you say it but then it types out what you said translates it and says it, this can also be repeated as well. An excellent useful gadget.

This is a well built and responsive device. Made from metal with a touch screen interface it is quite simple to use. Sadly it is lacking in quite a few areas. Firstly and most important is that you need to know what language a person is speaking before you can translate it. You can not simply let it listen to dialogue and have it translate you have to preset the language first. So if you don't know the language you simply can not use it. It is also best if you have a good WiFi signal as it can struggle without it. You can download the languages you want for offline use which is a big plus and also connect to your phone with Bluetooth. There is the option of 144 different languages so wherever you plan to travel there is a language to keep you talking. Another great feature about this is that it can translate from a photo so you can take a photo of a menu and it will translate it for you which is excellent if you have a food intolerance or allergy and need to know food/ingredients. It was pretty easy to set up from out of the box, the instructions are clear and well written and translation is reasonably accurate. Overall it is a good translator that does perform adequately for holidays and travelling

It's not too much of a problem if you have access to a plug to charge it up, but otherwise it can run out of steam with regular use. Quality is good and size makes it easy to carry with you.

So easy to set up & use

This device is far smaller and lighter than a smartphone. It is charged via a USB-C socket and then connects easily to a WiFi network. It can translate online but can also work offline. Unfortunately, the choice of offline languages is far more limited and the manual also confirms that translation accuracy is reduced when working offline. As a result, it is clear that this device needs WiFi for full functionality. Setup is quite intuitive. The time, date and timezone are automatically set once connected to WiFi. There is a wide choice of system languages. By default, it comes set to English, which makes navigating menus easy. Input and output is via inbuilt microphones and speakers. However, this also supports output via Bluetooth earbuds, via a Bluetooth system which is turned on via the main menu system. Translation online is simple. I selected English to Italian translation from the menu and then switched to the Dialog screen. To get the Voice Translator to listen to Italian dialogue and translate it into English, I pressed the right button (Translation Key B). To do the reverse and translate from spoken English into Italian, I pressed the left hand button (Translation Key A). This use of dedicated translation buttons is really useful and far easier than popping in and out of on-screen menus, which is very cumbersome when using smartphone translation programmes such as “Translate” on my iPhone. To test out its accuracy, I played some of the dialogue from my Duolingo Italian lessons. Overall, it did quite well and translated some of the sentences perfectly from spoken Italian such as “Chiara vede spesso Luca vicino al Duomo” to “Chiara often sees Luca near the Cathedral.”. It did make some minor errors with other sentences, which cost me a couple of hearts! For example, it heard “No, prendo l’autobus alle nove” instead of “No, prendo l’autobus li alle nove” (No, I’ll take the bus there at nine). It also mis-heard “Vorrei andara vicino..” as “Dovevi andare vicino..” (I’d like to go near..). The translations are easy to read on the 3”, 480 x 854 pixel touch screen, with previous translations accessible by scrolling upwards. Overall, it coped well listening to my spoken English and Italian as well as Duolingo’s spoken English and Italian. The on-screen translations are clear to read and it makes an ideal companion when doing Duolingo via my iPhone! Clearly, to learn Italian, I have to do most of the work myself but I did find it useful to go over new words and phrases that I had heard. Reassuringly, the language used by the translator was very similar that used in Duolingo. In a more practical setting, the facility to quickly swap between foreign language to English and vice versa is ideal for two way dialogue. It could easily be used to monitor a telephone conversation via an iPhone as well as being used for a face-to-face meeting. Overall, I am impressed that by the fact that voice translator does everything it needs to do in a small device that can be kept in a pocket or bag and barely takes up any room at all. My only criticism is that it could easily be damaged so would benefit from a protective case or even slip pouch.

This translate does not work for me. I needed it for turkey when I go next week but when trying the translator it just doesn't work. It is connected upto WiFi and my WiFi is fast and in the same room as this translator, it's also connected up to my phone via Bluetooth. I have tried following the instructions and speaking basic English and every single time it says unrecognised so it won't translate the English voice to Turkish. It does however translate English text into Turkish when taking a photo of the text but you have to have it connected upto WiFi to do this so if you were in a Turkish shop you'd need WiFi for it to work before it will translate the text on the packaging etc which makes it useless to me as I wanted it to check which food items where gluten free and which weren't whilst abroad. I wouldn't recommend it. My phone does a much better job.

funziona benissimo con wifi altrimenti occorre scaricare pacchetti delle diverse lingue che si vogliono parlare... rapporto qualità prezzo direi buono... suggerisco al produttore di migliorare il SW perché ogni volta occorre rimettere la pw per collegarlo alla stessa rete wifi.. ecco non le memorizza. interfaccia gradevole e intuitivo
