Bought this to find paint to match re-plastered patch on big ceiling where the original brilliant white had faded. Took multiple readings which were very consistent. Had paint mixed to shade and it is spot on. Only challenge is that is provides Hex, RGB codes etc but not RAL (which was what the paint supplier needed). However, a couple minutes online soon resulted in a Hex to RAL conversion

There is a choice of Europe or US registration and paints shown are very limited in the UK. To get direct access to certain brands fan decks, a different licensed version will be necessary. The device does feel a bit locked down due to licensing agreements but scanning does work well and data can be taken and used in a browser for in-depth colour research.

Great product if you need to scan F&B paints in UK. If you need specify other paints, then you need to buy for the software that's coming with the app.

Easy to use

I bought it to measure the colour values of a range of picturebframing materials which it did fine. I thought it a shame that the ranges of paint manufacturers recognised was quite limited excluding many popular brands in the UK- Dulux, Crown and others while Farrow and Ball were the only one I recognised. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

All the colours aren't in RAL

Very simple to use and absolutely amazing. It seems to be more geared towards house painting as it prioritizes giving paint names and a few too many clicks to get to the RGB, Hex and CMYK values. I wish they gave pantones. That’s all crappy app features so I hope they update that. Otherwise a great little machine.

Le résultat m'a surpris car la correspondance est parfaite dans mon exercice de faire une retouche sur un meuble en bois

Leider, leider viel zu spät habe ich von diesem kleinen Gerät erfahren. Wie viele Fehlkäufe hätte ich mir erspart… In den letzten Jahren haben wir viel Zeit mit der Renovierung eines Altbaus vertan, haben Böden verlegt, Wände gestrichen, tapeziert, Möbel, Decken, Kissen und, und, und gekauft. Und viel Zeit mit (unhandlichen) Farbpaletten verbracht. Und meistens lagen wir ganz gut, leider aber nicht immer. Und jetzt habe ich bei meiner Freundin, auch so eine selbsternannte Dekoqueen und Basteltante, den Colorreader entdeckt – getestet und gekauft. Denn das ist schon erstaunlich, was das Gerät alles kann. Es geht nicht nur darum, die passende Wandfarbe herauszufinden und die dann im Baumarkt mischen zu lassen. Das ist ja fast noch die leichteste Übung. Es gibt noch so viel mehr Möglichkeiten. Ich sehe eine Farbe, egal ob an der Wand, in einem Magazin, Kissen, Decke oder sonst einem Objekt, scanne den Ton ein und kann ihn einfach in meiner App speichern. Und noch weitere Farbtöne hinzufügen. So bin ich gerüstet, wenn ich etwas dazu kaufen möchte. Meine Tochter wollte z.B. plötzlich ihr Zimmer in Grau und Türkis-Tönen – das ist gar nicht so einfach. Denn Türkis ist nicht unbedingt Türkis und das passt auch nicht alles wirklich toll zusammen. Und bei Grau ist es genauso. Also habe ich ihr eine Palette in der App angelegt, die markantesten Grau/Türkis-Töne gescannt und bin dann losgezogen und habe eine passende Fleecedecke, Schreibtischlampe und ein Sitzkissen gekauft. Und auch ohne einen professionellen Innenausstatter harmonieren die Farben perfekt miteinander. Ich bin davon so angetan, dass ich letztens sogar mein neues Kleid gescannt habe, um mir dann zielsicher passende Schuhe dazu zu kaufen. Das beste: das Gerät ist klein, handlich und absolut einfach zu bedienen, es gibt ja auch eigentlich nur einen Knopf. Lediglich die App runterladen und das Kalibrieren hat etwas gedauert – lag aber vermutlich daran, dass ich zu ungeduldig war und zu schnell weiter geklickt habe. Hätte ich den Coloreader damals schon bei unserer Hochzeit gehabt – es wäre vieles einfacher gewesen. Denn Cremeweiß ist nicht Cremeweiß (Kleid, Schleier, Schuhe – was ein Aufwand) und das Rot der Einladungskarten sollten ja auch zu den roten Bändern in der Tischdeko passen. Was das alles an Zeit und Diskussionen gekostet hat, so wie „warten Sie mal, die Farbe ist ungefähr so, wie äh, wie das dahinten“ und das war sie dann natürlich nicht. Aus der Erinnerung heraus, Farben mit der Realität zu vergleichen, klappt ganz einfach nicht. Ich bin auf jeden Fall mehr als zufrieden – und auch wenn man denkt, dass man ja gar nicht soooo oft streicht und sich so eine Anschaffung ja gar nicht für den privaten Gebrauch lohnen kann. Das stimmt nicht. Erst mal streichen wir gefühlt ständig (Kamin im Wohnzimmer, der rußt nun mal; Wasserflecken im Bad und schließlich lebt man ja nun mal und eckt mal überall an). Und auch im Bereich „Dekoartikel fürs schöne Heim“ oder „Accessoires für das Lieblingsoutfit“-Finden gibt es unbegrenzte Möglichkeiten. Wie viele Sachen hat man schon gekauft, die im Geschäft irgendwie einen anderen Farbton hatten und dann zuhause nicht zu dem Rest passte? Ärgerlich. Passiert mir jetzt aber nicht mehr.
