When nutrition and caloric intake is a problem, you want to be sure that every bite (or swallow) counts. In the same volume as other drink supplements, this packs in double the calories. This high calorie formula only comes in vanilla. The taste is the same as the regular formula, and the consistency is a tad thicker. Although he liked it, after a while, my son started to tire of vanilla at every meal. I bought some strong, French Roast instant coffee and discovered this makes for a pretty dang delicious frappuccino. Dissolve a tsp-tbsp of instant coffee in as little hot water as possible. You want to add concentrated flavor, not volume. Add this coffee slurry to the carton of Boost and you've just created a nutritional coffee drink. A couple other options for variety: 1 - Mix with orange juice concentrate to create a Creamsicle/Orange Julius drink. Instead of just using juice, use frozen canned concentrate. If you use already mixed juice, you have to use almost a 1:1 ratio in order for the juice flavor to come through. Having to double the volume defeats the whole purpose of concentrated calories. A tbsp of frozen concentrate is about right for one box. Lime concentrate was yummy too. Other frozen juice flavors (apple and cranberry) mixed w/ this vanilla (in my sons opinion), were too sweet. Be creative. I'm sure any juice concentrate would work. 2 - A squeeze of chocolate syrup turns this into a chocolate drink. I used dark chocolate syrup so it would be less sweet. My son had gone from 175 to 110 lbs post surgery. Tube feeding formulas gave him horrible digestive problems, but he had no appetite and did not want to eat. This was the miracle drink that got him back on his feet.

I had a chronic throat issue due to reflux (it’s called laryngopharyngeal reflux aka LPR) because of which I had a very tight, scratchy throat and extreme difficulty in swallowing foods, as a result I lost too much weight (I was normal weight and I am close to underweight now and underweight doesn’t look too hot on me) also felt weak and tired all the time. I have recovered from the throat issue but I still need to avoid certain foods, so it is not possible for me to eat indiscriminately and gain my weight back from eating whatever. Since taking the Boost Very High calorie as an additional, quick 530 calorie to my existing diet, I have been feeling better. I have noticed a difference in my overall energy (I also started taking vitafusion gummy vitamins- they are fantastic and works very well in upping my energy), and slowly gaining my strength back. As you can see from the photo, it’s only been 5 days (I take one a day with strawberry syrup), and already gained a solid one pound. I would like to add that I have a sensitive stomach and this did not cause me any stomach issues whatsoever. (Before I discovered Boost VHC, I have tried Soylent and Soylent caused me severe bloating and has way less calorie per bottle). So thankful for this reason as well that I can digest this one well. I am looking forward to gaining the rest of the 10 pounds and looking and feeling like myself again. Thanks for this, Nestlé! Would buy and recommend!

I've bought these drinks for a year now, I try to consume one a day. They make for great meal replacements especially if you're in a hurry and you have no time to eat. Trick is, it has to be cold (don't freeze, it turns a really weird slushy like texture) and I dilute it with equal amounts water (mix well!) . At first, it took me a long time to drink it because there is this odd chemically taste that's in all other nutritional drinks too. The straw helps from the taste from getting really coated in your mouth. Plus! Not only is this literally the most caloric drink I've found, it has the least amount of sugar (but still tastes very sweet) and a high amount of protein which also helps with the weight gain. I initially noticed an upwards of 8lb weight gain, but now I drink it mostly to maintain the weight. Never came damaged and honestly I wish it came in bigger sizes because these drinks only last me a month or so.

So, these are a very easy addition (in theory) to your diet if you’re looking to gain weight. If you’re counting calories and know that you’re consuming a surplus with the addition of these, you absolutely will gain weight. Not sure why people seem to think these should be magically putting weight on you otherwise. You must consume more calories than you burn to put on weight. This helps, as an additional 500 cals really adds up over time. However, I’d recommend trying to drink one throughout the day, rather than all at once. Unless you’re in need of a meal replacement and have no choice. I say this for a couple of reasons: nausea and flavour First, for whatever reason, these have the potential to make you extremely nauseated very quickly. For me, I can tolerate a few sips at a time. They’re very small and dense. So, a few sips every few hours and you’ll finish one by end of day, no prob. When they make me sick, it’s like my body is genuinely trying to reject them. I get extremely nauseated. But I also experience a weird hot-flash and my mouth goes bone dry. Usually I have to lay down until it passes. It’s bizarre. Second, as as per the title, maybe a fifth or more of the shakes in any given batch have the most Gdawful flavour. And there’s no way of determining beforehand which one you’re going to get. Some leave a genuinely blood-like metallic taste in your mouth and almost burn while going down your throat (this has caused me to immediately vomit on multiple occasions). Still others taste like paint or, as someone else in the comments stated, like modeling clay mixed with water/milk. Like chemicals. This doesn’t seem to burn as much, and you can feel it going down. A lot of times, the bad flavour only hits when it’s going down your throat. So, it’s a total shock. The rest have a fairly pleasant taste. Also, based on the comments here, it seems when the boost tastes terrible, it tends to give people diarrhea. No idea though, if that’s true because I dump them out at that point. Do not recommend finishing. Ultimately, it’s a total gamble whether or not you end up with a good boost. So, drink at your own peril.
