Great product, welded it to my brush guard on my John Deere tractor. Saves pulling the rod and pin out every time which is a real pain.

The material amounts used in this latch are substantial. No worries there. Unless you run it over with a bulldozer track or something, I don’t imagine this ever becoming damaged past functioning. The spring pressure on the latch is also pretty stout. The annoying flaw of this design is the roll pins that allow the pin to latch sit proud of the dimensions of the box. What this means is mounting the latch isn’t a pick a spot and slap on a weld and be done affair. You’ll have to notch the surface you’re welding the latch for the roll pin clearance in order for the latch to function. You also might clip the roll pin a few millimeters shorter, but then run the risk of it not catching the latch and no longer functioning. I’m unsure how I’m going to go about resolving the issue. It’s ultimately a minor annoyance, BUT something you need to be aware of before you weld it to something and then find out the latch won’t turn. I’ll attach some images to better illustrate the issue. Another recommendation I would have for the manufacturer is to notch the roll pin latches so the to lock the pin back into the latches you turn the pin clockwise, and to unlock you turn the pin counterclockwise. For this review I received the item for free, but ultimately I feel this item is worth the fair price.
