Requires strength not height or necessarily size.
It's nice and worth the value. Don't pay attention to any dumbos here that mention height, as in if you are shorter it's too much blade for you!! It's not height that's matters at all its strength specifically wrist and arm. Last I checked the guys winning arm wrestling contests weren't all 6'5". Anyway it is cool but very heavy so I think it's great for training and I was a pro trainer focusing on size and strength so if you buy this you better start working your hand strength and I mean all your digits as well and full forearms. But you'll need strength everywhere. I would add the exact weight if I knew it. Comes sharp not extra sharp, and much less than razor which is not needed for a sword extra would be nice though but I bought knowing this. Sure if you are that Battista guy from Guardians of the Galaxy probably you're all set with all the strength reqs. But one of those bony actors that are 6 ft will insure themselves for sure playing with this sword. I'm happy with it.

Overall a Great Buy
I really love a good blade and this is definitely worth the money. It comes with a sharp edge and it has some nice weight to it. I'm 6'6" and this blade is well suited for me length wise, this blade will not work well for shorter people. Just make sure to buy a sword cleaning kit for it too if you don't already have one. The one minor issue that I've noticed is that the scabbard that comes with it is relatively cheap. I had this item shipped to me from one company and the scabbard arrived broken (the end was snapped off with no damage to the blade), and the replacement has two cracks right at the mouth of the scabbard, but it seems like an easy fix.

Serious quality control concerns.
Let me start by saying I bought this sword with the intention of changing out a lot of the parts to customize it, so its basic construction wasn't of particular concern to me. That said, I will review the build for people who are concerned with the basic model. The good: -The blade is straight and strong, and I'm sure it'll hold a fine edge once I've polished it. The curve and grind are great. (This model does not come polished. It's meant to be a budget option, and I intended to polish it myself.) The Bad: -The sword is definitely budget quality. It will cut, but it's not $500 worth of sharp. -The tsuka ito (handle wrapping) started to slip and the diamond folds began to expand and separate after swinging it a single time, so you'll need to take great care not to tear it apart just by using it. The Ugly: I noticed the handle was bulging once I started to deconstruct it, and found that under the ray skin there's a gnarly crack. I figured I would just glue it together, but it went straight through to the tang. THIS IS UNSALVIGABLE. I'm going to have to replace the unusually long 12" tsuka entirely. I suspect this would be a catastrophic defect for anyone who isn't ready to fix it, or even identify it. !!!It might even be unsafe considering this is supposed to be a fully functional sword!!! There are things I like, but mostly because all I really care about is the sword blank and the sheath, but I cannot recommend the purchase. For the price you're better off buying something else.

Heavy, definitely definitely for a more muscular person
Very amazing sword, love the quality of it, but itโs very heavy and definitely requires a lot more muscle to swing it and keep control of it but very well built before its price very sharp and is a longer version of it so itโs an amazing sword

Absolutely beautiful !
You need to have this thing in your hands to fully appreciate its size and beauty. I was filled with worry, the entire week it took from when I ordered it to when it arrived on my doorstep. I will address a few of the common complaints that I've seen. 1. Too heavy- absolutely not. No, it's not light, but it's not like OMG I won't be able to swing this thing at full force heavy. Honestly I think a lot of people are just weak. I have very average strength, and I have no complaints. 2. Too long- No, it's exactly how long it's supposed to be. Samurai didn't really carry blades of this length on their person like they would a standard size. Rather, they would have one of their "foot soldiers" (slaves) carry it for them, and help them draw it too. If you're expecting to be able to draw this thing swiftly from your waist, you're missing the point. This is a battle field weapon. 3. Off balance- sure, it's blade heavy, but not in a way that's unsettling, or will affect your ability to cut down your opponent. Also, all the fittings came nice and tight. No rust, scratches, dull spots on the blade. This blade is sold by a 3rd party vendor and if you look up reviews on them, you would not feel very confident. But I will assure you this vendor has really cleaned up their act. Very impressed!

GOOD INVESTMENT!!!
Bottom Line; you cannot go wrong in the purchase of any edged item from Cold Steel, as they have made themselves a time-proven reputation for high quality and reliability. ~ I'm very happy to have included this fine sword to my collection albeit am perplexed why the company did not affix its name onto the blade. ~ NOTE: this model is a very large version of the common Katana, thus if you are under 6' in height this will only be useful to you as a wall-hanger or just an investment!

Disappointed with the condition of the product
Disappointed with the condition of the product. I took it out of the box to find the cap on the end of the saya (scabbard) to have fallen off and into the box. Blade itself seems fine however

Legit!
This thing is a legitimate weapon! Built like a tank, razor sharp, well made with plenty attention to detail. It's a heavy sword but not bad. One of the best purchases I have made in quite a while. I dont know what I'm going to do with it but the sword will be ready for whatever I can throw at it!

I bought this sword because of the many good reviews from many sources
Cold steel disappoints again. I bought this sword because of the many good reviews from many sources. But I got the lemon. The tsuba (guard) and habaki on this sword had a lot of play. Could fix by adding another seppa (shim) but this is a $500 sword, should not have to fix anything. I think my track record with Cold Steel is about 40% good and 60% bad,.....that's my fault for thinking Cold Steel's quality would improve.

Great product. However durinf shipping there was damage to the tip of the blade and was protruding out of the box. Amazon gave me over 100 discount and i fixed the tip. Performs well.
