Excellent software - easy to install — works flawlessly— highly recommended as a viable and cost effective alternative to Office

Item is deceptively advertised. I ordered it thinking it was an old version of Microsoft Office and I suspect this is intentional. It arrived in an unmarked white envelope glued shut. I had to cut the envelope to open it, and that’s when I discovered it was Open Office, which is available for free via download.

The suite is comparable with my old MSOffice files many of which are spreadsheets I used to use at work. I have used all the products in the suite but spreadsheets are my main focal point with accompanying charts. Works every bit as good as MS Excel.

Description appears to be intentionally misleading.

First issue was the download took 2 attempts to work properly. Not sure why but, as I am creating a spreadsheet, every few minutes I get an error message and lose the data that was entered after the last time I saved the document, forcing me to have to save my work every few minutes. Another issue is the files I have created when saved does not save into "my documents" it only saves under Open Office while the program is open. I am unable to attach any of my created files to email, my medical patient portals, etc. I tried saving my spreadsheet as a pdf file but when I open it there isn't anything there. I don't know what I can do to make this compatible like an MS Office file would be. If I cant use the files as attachments or send to other people then what good is it? I purchased this because it was cheaper than Office 365. Now Im thinking about reconsidering.

Once I got my old brain straight it was pretty simple to load and get running. I have all my Excel files moved over and working. I'm quite happy not to have to PAY Microsoft for software every time I turn around, and don't miss their "uppates" that screw up my files! This solved my problems.

I seemed to have better luck with this Apache Office suite than others. I really only bought it for the word processing feature, as my IMac I bought in 2016 did not have one. I needed to buy an external drive From Amazon (SZYIKUER USB Portable external DVD/CD RWDrive..$16.14) )to install. After installation, I had a learning curve as it was no exactly like Microsoft word. I am not very techie but I was able to produce a resume that looks pretty nice. One thing I didn't realize is there was a link to pre-formatted resumes. I completed it, then was told I needed to buy it. I exited, but went back the next day and couldn't find it. I stated over again and produced my own resume with what was available from the Apache disk I bought. Looks very nice, and reformatted it to a pdf. Gave it 4 stars for the price and a positive outcome. I am very happy with the purchase.

I love that this program is on a disc that you can load into all your computers! $13 ...are you KIDDING?! MS charges $150 PER YEAR! For a cloud version you are limited to just a few computers!
