Do you want a fresh snack? I love licorice but this is beyond you open the canister it’s cardboard, but it’s just freshness and delight. You can’t go wrong.

Ad says very fresh and soft. I received two boxes today one red one black. The red has a very good flavor along with the black, but they are sticky like somebody poured water over them, not soft and tender like they should be. I’m a licorice eater and I know what licorice should be like. Very disappointed. Also, in the cardboard box will draw the moisture out of the liquid licorice and make it even harder. Not a good seal container for storing. Cost is very expensive for what you get.

Okay, lets start with appearance; the bottoms of each container are marked either Red or Black, the tops however only state Red. Guess they ran out of Black lids. After opening the tubes, after all they are tubes with tube tops, anyway, they are cut into nice sized pieces. The red are Red, the Black are brown. Now, taste, I remember black licorice (haven't had black licorice in a very long time) as being very hard to accept based on the harsh flavor. I have just gone with red licorice all these years. But, I decided to try black licorice again. Couldn't find any in any stores so went to Amazon. I didn't want the standard chemical factory brew, wanted something as close to a true licorice. So I found these and decided to give them a try. The Red is supposed to be Strawberry. Okay, there is a sort of artificial berry taste, strawberry, okay, it isn't bad, just not as pronounced as I was expecting. Now, the Black, which I was preparing myself for was actually mild. It is quite pleasant to consumer, nothing like the bitter black licorice I remember from the stone age era. I like them both. Not sure how long they will stay fresh in the tubes they come in since the tubes don't actually seal them. If you consume candies rather quickly then that is not going to be an issue, but I eat maybe one or two pieces a day if that so I may have to put them into sealable container to keep them from drying out and getting hard. I do like them though.

I thought this would be a good birthday surprise for a licorice lover. They're okay but nowhere near as good as advertised. The pieces are very chewy and I find it best to suck on a piece for a half minute to soften it up before attempting to chew it. Once it's finally chewable the flavor is interesting. Not amazing but not bad. Certainly not worth the price. I have to wonder if these are just not very fresh. We have also found it necessary to wash our hand with soap each time we handle a piece of this licorice to get rid of the sticky, oily feel. Bottom line is I won't be ordering more of this licorice.

This is honestly the best tasting licorice I’ve had since I was a kid and things were made with pride. However, I have no idea what makes sugar, flour, gelatin and flavoring so expensive. Good thing it costs so much for so little though, or I would be fat from eating it. I won’t buy it again at this price.

This is the best licorice I have ever had. I’m a connoisseur especially of black licorice and that’s the first container I opened up today. The taste was remarkable. I believe this will be very addictive for me. Have not tried the red yet but if it’s anything like the black, I will be totally ecstatic. You won’t go wrong with this. My order came extremely quick too.

Ok, thanks to this, I'm never gonna be a skinny guy. I don't go around ranking candy, but i will say, this is the best licorice I've had the pleasure of enjoying. It's kind of pricey, but worth it.

The licorice was very hard to chew and tasted stale. I've ordered this before without issue, but this was a bad batch and they won't issue a refund.
