How do these compare (the metallics) to Twinkling h20 watercolors?

The Paul Rubens are very glittery and much easier to reactivate with water. I find a tiny touch of a damp brush can bring up more mica particles, a lot easier to re-wet than my Twinkling h20s. You can get more color selection for cheaper this way with the smaller pan size. Both products contain colors that are fugitive though, with mainly only silver and gold being lightfast and both of the brands had fading for the pinks/purples and some other colors.

Can the metal box container be another color besides pink?

These tins are available for purchase from other companies and in many colors or sizes, although you won’t find any other color with the Paul Ruben logo on it. If it bothers you too much, I’d recommend getting a tin from amazon that is in the color you like and can fit the right amount of paints. Be sure it’s a half pan tin and can fit the 12-24 paint set you purchase. The paints themselves are quite nice and affordable, but I’m not a huge fan of pink either. In my set, I just left it since I don’t mind but there’s definitely options available to fix it. There are listings on amazon for 12 or 24 half pan tin containers.
