Where does your stuf go when it is collapsed?

it's kinda like a tardis, there's more room on the inside... but in all seriousness, you can't store things in it when it's collapsed

Are these waterproof at all?

No they are not. I would look at any other type of storage bin because these are not worth the money. They are not sturdy at all and the warranty was awful. Customer service did not help me with a broken one. You might want to look at a rubbermaid tote to find a waterproof one. Hope this helps.

Can these be used to store vinyl records? If so, how many will each hold?

Not really, the bin is too sbort for an LP to stand upright. I'd suggest the 62 L size for storing records.

does it come with a lid?? Item Description says it does , but some review says it doesn’t just want to make sure . please let me know.

Yes, they do come with a lid. Those that answered that it doesn't missed it. It is on the bottom of the device when you open it. If you don't know its there, you'll never find it. If you turn it over you will note a shell-like device that is affixed to the bottom and you can take it off the bottom and affix it to the top. There will still be a proper base/bottom on the device after you take it off. I had a couple of these 10+ years ago and they were flimsy (not this model/make) and didn't expand or collapse well. These CleverMade Collapsible Bins are the real deal. They work easily and great!
