Poldark Series 4 [DVD] [2018]

Wonderful series, most enjoyable.

Just finished watching it and it's outstanding the writing and story are brilliant the acting is wonderful i can't praise it enough just a great TV series

'Poldark' has been my favourite work of fiction for very many years and Captain Ross Poldark is my all-time favourite literary hero. I adored the first television rendition but this is breathtaking. Aidan Turner has absolutely nailed Ross and he so deserves the praise he's received for bringing him so vividly to life. He has fine insights into Ross's many complexities of character, he's stunning to watch and it doesn't hurt that he's such a beautiful man. Wow! George is a far more fastidious and implacable version of his first incarnation and is wonderfully vile whilst touchingly insecure. Another perfect choice. The ladies are lovely, the performances are memorable, the settings glorious, the stories intricate and dynamic and the production as a whole is superb. A worthy adaptation of a beautiful minor classic. Modern feminism definitely did not need to intrude and I was sorry that Series 4 was a little rushed. It could have done with two more episodes in order to do justice to the strength and content of 'The Angry Tide', the seventh book, but these are very minor quibbles and I heartily forgive them as this show is a pure joy. If you have never read the books, you are missing a treat. If you have never seen this lovely production, where have you been?

This is the one of the best series I have ever watched and am seriously considering getting the book. The series was well written and excellently acted. perhaps I was a little biased. The mining of copper in Cornwall was to me very similarr to the mining of coal in fife. There was poverty cave ins and sheer hard work. I obviously did not live in the 19 century but there was certainly a lot of elements remaining during my childhood. Of course there was so much more than mining. There was family love, jealousy, happiness, sorrow, daring exploits and lovely cheeky humour. It was a series that could be enjoyed by both myself and my husband an we loved every minute of it. Give me more

Very much enjoyed Series 4 which took a bit of negotiating to obtain as a "normal" DVD viewer and can't wait for the complete Series 5 to be available from first release on DVD from Amazon for normal viewers as well as to Prime members. I have also recently watched the orginal Poldark series with Robin Ellis and Angharad Rees which was really excellent too. My only real negative feelings are that I do feel that in the new series, we are treated to too many views of rocks, lashing waves and poignant music between scenes as well as the change of actors (Dr Enys in particular) midway in the first series.

Great Storyline

I'm waiting for delivery of this DVD but, having watched the whole of Series 4 on broadcast, I can say that it's a DVD that I will watch over and over again - as with the first 3 series. An incredible roller-coaster of a ride once again. I can't wait to receive it. Brilliant acting by all the cast as usual.

In TV presto vedremo la terza stagione in italiano,ma in DVD neppure la prima stagione contiene la lingua italiana, pertanto non si può pretendere che questa quarta sia stata già doppiata... Quest'ultima è commuovente, non dico altro per non fare spoiler, comunque ne consiglio assolutamente la visione agli amanti della saga e a chi ama le saghe familiari in costume, partendo naturalmente dalla prima. A mio parere si assiste a un crescendo rispetto alla seconda e alla terza stagione, considero questa quarta al livello della prima, se non migliore... Pare che la quinta stagione sarà l'ultima, ma questa potrebbe già essere considerata tale dato che tutte le vicende rimaste in sospeso hanno un loro epilogo... Darei 7 stelle se fosse possibile...

The product was received in good time. It does not play on a standard North American system and this fact should have been displayed very clearly in the details. I received a letter from the seller warning me but it was too late. Not happy.

J'aime cette série pour l'époque qu'elle restitue ,pour l 'histoire principale passionnante ainsi que pour celles qui s' y greffent tout au long des événements .De plus nous faisons un peu d'histoire d 'Angleterre ,nous connaissons mieux celle de FRANCE : la nôtre et constatons les différences à cette époque importante pour nous .les comédiens sont très bons ,les décors aussi ,je compte bien sur la suite . PS j 'ai lu les trois livres traduits en français de la série .

I did not wait for it to come out in the US. I wanted to see it right away and this was very easy to do with a universal player. The seller made sure I understood that most US video players would not play the dvd but you can easily buy region free players inexpensively. Really I wish they would let it out in the US at the same time as in the UK. I really feel this series wasn't advertised as well as some others -- I just learned about it this year. For people I know who have watched it though, it is well loved and enjoyed. The themes in this series strike a chord with present times: social justice, the role of women in relationships, religious freedom, discrimination. Watch it and you will love it.
