I didn’t get the warranty. I guess it depends on what kind of action it’s going to be getting.

How deep can this unit detect metal?

On a coin size target 6 to 8 inches and a soda can size target 10 to 12 inches.

Can this be used on the beach in wet sand / shallow water?

Yes this coil is waterproof. However most detectors will not perform 100% in sand. I have not tested this but the general consensus is if you plan to beach comb only I would look into more expensive options as the ground discrimination is far better. But this will do fine.

Battery box corrosion.

Corrosion in the battery box rendered the machine inoperable. For a few pennies more, this detector could have been built with stainless hardware in the battery box. Now it's just going to have to get chunked. Another made in China piece of junk.
