This is more that an entry level high performance AVR!! It's a beast! The Dirac Live feature is unreal, the power is unreal and the room for later expanding it with an external amplifier is unmatched at this price point! If you are thinking about upgrading and don't want to spend $1500 or more to do so; stop looking and get this! I have been a Pioneer fan for as long as I can remember before this. They had the power nd build quality to last for years. My oldest one is now a 2. 1 channel set up for listening and PC audio boost. It about 20 years old now. But even with that type of time and not breaking down I still wouldn't go back. To get this type of set up with the Elite line of Pioneer AVRs you would pay 2.5 times as much and maybe get a little over half the features of the Onkyo. Solid purchase for anyone thinking about it. Also, don't fall for the vlogs talking about never buy it because they have an issue...that was a different era for Onkyo, ran by different product management. This one isn't them anymore.

Amazing receiver, this is an upgrade for an old Denon avr-589 and the sound out of this baby is great! I am using a pair of definitive bp10 towers and a definitive descend DN8 subwoofer (plus a procenter 1000 and two Old Boston rear speakers), and after Dirac live calibration this sounds really well. I mostly listen to music on my turntable and also use TIDAL from the proprietary app, so far so great! Would totally recommend this unit to anyone looking for an affordable option that can be used with Dirac Live

Sound quality is phenomenal!!! One star due to unit being quirky after only 3 days. Started making an audible annoying clicking sound when switching sources. Drove me crazy. Donated the unit to my brother in law. Purchased the Marantz cinema 70. Very happy with it!

Mind blowing Receiver which goes best with Klipsch Speakers. Connected this with Costco 5.0.2 and Subwoofer this is better than cinema halls near by worth money spent.

I use it every day, sound is good, replaced an old Yamaha receiver without changing out anything else, so I suppose Onkyo deserves 4 stars. It mostly works but after several months, the Onkyo began turning itself off if I put a movie on hold for more than 15 minutes (like to take a phone call, go to the bathroom, get some food, other things not safe-for-work). Have attempted setting it up several times now (each time is a bit painful) but cannot get the receiver to stop turning itself off after 15 minutes if I put a movie on hold. I'm living with it, but it is a constant annoyance, especially since it wasn't doing this when I first set it up, nothing equipment wise or update wise changed when it spontaneously arose from the nether regions, but here I am now. On a different note, the 'software update' notes are frightening. Basically, if you apply THEIR update, and it bricks the device, that's on you, not them. Also not to mention (sorry, not sorry) that the entire process is not user friendly, from finding the instructions, to downloading the update, to applying it. Did I mention that if it bricks the device, they take no responsibility. After one year, I haven't applied the update. If I ever need to use the feature that requires the update, I'll report back here.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Haven't bought a new AVR in at least 10 years. I was wondering how much better new ones are. Well this one is great! Simple setup. Amazing programmability to whatever setup and inputs you have. I have a 5.1 but comes with 9.2 option. Easy to change to my 2 zone 5.1 with zone 2. Can add more speakers like bluetooth say for the backyard and program a 3rd zone easily. The Dirac Live with microphone is all provided. Programs itself to your environment and speakers. My old TV works great with Firestick into the AVR the TV still runs independently - my wife loves that. I picked this product based on independent reviews I found and for what I needed. Runs super cool to touch as well.

Eu já sou usuário Onkyo ha tempo. Gosto dos equipamentos, principalmente por sua relação custo benefício, são muitos os recursos implementados. Este especificamente que é um equipamento superior ao meu antigo, está me atendendo excelentemente bem.
