Gave exact color match
Worked great. Replaced two bathroom mirrors and had to paint the wall behind it that still has the original paint from 93. Was able to give a color match that is indistinguishable from what was painted on the wall. Went to Home Depot and got a sample size that covered just the area needed. Perfect match.

One Click (well perhaps more than but felt like) Fix for Apt Walls
Living an apt with chalky mass painted walls, the flat-dusty finish shows a huge mark everytime something comes in substantial contact so I bought some touchup paint using the Muse 2. Some time back I pointed it at the wall in a few places and it said the same thing so went on to browse though the matches. After that I got the part number on home depot by finding the brand returned in the app and then the paint part number. Clicked purchase with a brush. Finally Im around to this and the match was beyond perfect, it got the color which doesnt seem too hard for a camera .. but it got the finish perfectly as well. Yeah the complex used a standard mass produced paint and color but Im not a painter and for $110 this device and software solved the problem. Oh and it wasnt much effort to set it up either. Finally, I dont know where it is anymore so it may be lost forever and I dont care because it was worth it to make this place whole again. If it only worked once Im happy (dont worry it is in a tool bag somewhere) I do see others posting that they thought the "closest matches" in paint brands was removed from the app but the historical scan shows those matches, perhaps others have encountered an odd paint color which has no pre-mixed equivalent?

Complete failure at identifying colors. It went 0 for 17 identifying known colors. Useless.
I bought the Color Muse 2 to help identify unknown paint colors, which is its primary advertised purpose. EASE OF USE: Simple to use. You must download the app to your phone and connect the device by Bluetooth. Calibration is internal and very easy. Written instructions are weak. You need to go online for better use info. ACCURACY: Atrocious. I scanned 17 different painted surfaces of known color, Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams colors. These are the walls of a recently painted large house, interior and exterior, as well as sample colors painted on wood. RESULTS: NOT A SINGLE CORRECT READING! Most were not even close to the known color. The results varied with repeat readings in the same spot. I have no faith this will identify an unknown color accurately!!

Much better than the Color Muse 1
I bought this to replace my Color Muse 1, which could not accurately identify colors. But this Color Muse 2 is able to identify 7 out of 7 of my Valspar color patches and 11 out of 12 Glidden color patches with "excellent" matches. But the correct match is not always the top match. For best results you have to filter based on the brand of card/paint you are testing. But when filtering for Glidden, it still misidentified Orange Pekoe as Kiva Glow, giving Kiva Glow an "excellent" match and Orange Pekoe only a "good" match. Another thing that could be improved is the documentation, especially the app settings. Do any of the settings affect calibration and color matching, and if so, what are the correct settings? E.g., Standard Illuminant always defaults to D65 when I connect to a new device, but inside settings it says D50 is supposed to be the default, and on Variable's web site it says that calibration is done with D50. I noticed that changing these settings affect the RGB values that are displayed, but so far the settings do not appear to change the color matches. So it's unclear what I'm supposed to change the settings to and what they actually do. In the app it just gives you a brief theoretical definition of the setting, but doesn't tell you how it actually affects color matching. Basically, as a consumer, I just want to know which settings will give me the most accurate color matches, and having a bunch of poorly documented settings may or may not affect color matching is confusing.

Great investment for DIYers!
If you do any sort of work around the house that involves interior paint, you need this! We've been users since the original Color Muse came out, and it was always a somewhat hit or miss because of the measurement variations/match recommendation caused by paint finish & surface texture. With the Color Muse v2, finish & texture-related paint matching errors are no longer an issue. The new colorimeter system identifies perfect matches every time which can be a serious money saver when you consider how expensive quality paint can be. We've used it a number of times to perfectly match a broad range of colors & finishes when finishing home renovation projects that involved painting after drywall work, which saves time & money since we can paint only the actual work areas instead of entire walls.

Great for dark colors but not ligh
I bought this as I am painting a house with multiple colors and even after cutting out pieces of the paint and taking it to get color matched, the color was still noticeably off. So I bought those to seenhow well it could match. For the darker colors, this thing was spot on and an exact match; however, this house has a couple of walls that are painted white mixed with grey and brown. Unfortunately, it did not do well with this at all and was way off. I also tested it at my parents house ad they have a very light yellow interior that almost looks white and took the match to the paint store. It was also off. So this works really well for dark colors but is not too great when it comes to light colors.

Works like a charm!
This colorimeter is very impressive! As a professional painting contractor, finding the right color is super important for my clients. This device helped my client choose a color within minutes after scanning a preexisting cabinet she wanted to match, and it’s pretty accurate with the color matching. Definitely recommend if you want to be more professional, efficient, and prestigious!

I usually don't leave bad reviews but honestly I'm quite disappointed. Not only is the accuracy not dependable, but the thing runs out of battery all the time when you need it because there is no way to shut it off. I guess it goes to sleep or something but the light remains on for a while once you close it. Secondly, the charging port is missing on mine. I definitely am not overly careful with it, but it just sits at the bottom of my brief case that I use for holding my tablet for doing estimates. It just sits there. I am trying to return it now but I can no longer get a refund. I've probably used it 10 times. What a waste of money.. They don't even have direct support, which is usually where I go before leaving a bad review.
