Any way to keep the floodlights on (at a dim level) and they get brighter when detecting motion. AND off altogether if it's daylight?

YES!! I do this! It took me an hour or two of playing around with it to figure out the best way to accomplish this, so I'll just tell you to save you some time. I created 2 scenes in "Outdoor" room. The scenes are: Bright (100%), No Motion (20%). Then I created a routine named "Outside Night Lights" with this config: {When: Sunset, Room: Outdoor, Turn room(s) off at: Sunrise}. This activates dimmed lighting from sunset to sunrise. This is a standard thing you can do with the Hue app. Sunset/sunrise is calculated by your home location, not actual brightness. Then go to Settings -> Accessory Setup->Outdoor Sensor (whatever you called it) to configure the motion settings: Where: 1 Room (Outdoor) Day: 9am - 5pm Outdoor: "Do Nothing" No motion: 2 minutes Outdoor: Off Night: 5pm-9am Outdoor: Bright No Motion: 2 minutes Outdoor: "Return to previous state" My Daylight sensitivity is around 70%. Configuring times for day/night isn't really a big deal. This just means the sensor can operate differently during 'day' and 'night'. Brightness is used either way. The routine sets the outside lights to 20% brightness from sunset to sunrise, accurately, all year long. My motion sensor is effectively 'on' from 5pm to 9am, but will only trip the lights to full brightness once the light levels drop below the configured threshold. During some seasons, the sun may rise at 5am, which is when the routine will turn the lights off. If someone walks by the sensor at 5:01, it will trip the lights to full brightness only if it's still dark (rain clouds blocking the sun), and then will return the lights to their off state (rather than dimmed). I believe this does exactly what you want.

Can I use this to trigger other smart outlets?

Short answer: Yes Long answer: It depends. I don’t know how home automation works with android, but Phillips Hue is Apple HomeKit compatible. The sensor shows up as 3 sensors in the Apple Home app, motion sensor, light/lux sensor, and temperature sensor. You can create automation rules in Apple Home that can control any HomeKit compatible outlet. I don’t know if Phillips Hue has released any smart outlets (pretty sure they just do lighting), but if so then you could probably create a routine for it in the Hue app. Note: If you’re new to HomeKit, you should be aware that Apple HomeKit automation only works when you have an Apple device acting as a home automation hub. This can either be an AppleTV or iPad (that stays at home). If all you have is an iPhone, it either won’t work at all, or if it does it will only work when your iPhone is connected to your home WiFi.

What I love: The sensitivity is easily adjustable. The battery life is very good (I did my first battery replacement at 8 or 9 months). The actions you can take in the Hue and Google apps are pretty reasonable (switch scenes or start an automation, then revert back after x minutes, only trigger during certain times of the day, etc.) And you can use the Hue REST API to access and log temperature data. What I don't love: There are no adjustments to tilt or pan the sensor, so you need to physically shim it until it is perfectly aimed, often requiring several unmounts and remounts. An adjustable mount would be a big improvement. It only comes in black. A white option would be nice.

I purchased this for motion detection to automate Hue lights to turn brighter or on during certain hours, and it does exactly what I wanted. I have 2 porch lights that are on from dusk to 11:30pm. During that time, they are 30% bright. I wanted them to turn to 100% if motion was detected, and that automation is working perfectly. after 1 minute, the lights revert back to the previous state of 30%. From 11:30 to Dawn, the lights are off, and it will still turn them on to 100% with motion detected and revert to the previous state. The range is really good - too good. Cars in the street would trigger this and i could not get the software to reduce it. I ended up putting duct tape on the upper sensor area to prevent cars or objects too close from triggering. Now the range is correct and the sensitivity is excellent. Installation was easy and it was an overall great value for the money for my needs
