Does it have a hinge so one can lift up and access the reformer springs?

No. You have to pull the platform extender upwards or off to access the springs. It's sort of awkward but fine if it is your own machine. It might be a pain if you have a whole studio of reformers and are running a class.

What are the dimensions? will it work other aeropilates reformers?

It will not work with aeropilate reformer. There is a wooden bar underneath, that would go between the rails. I had to return it because I have an aeropilate reformer. Aero Pilates does not have a platform extender. I emailed them.
