Is the "medium" cage the ss or the gs version? shimano literature does not use the terms "short" or "medium" in their descriptions of the rd 8000.

is this for 10 speed ?

Actually, this will work with 10sp Tiagra. If you have ST-4700 levers (not sure about the MTB (flat bar) shifter version), then the pull ratio will work for and as 10sp on your 10sp cassette and shifter. You'll be future-proofed when you decide to switch out the lever, chain and cassette for actual 11sp. I am running ST-4700, RD-R8000GS, CS-MT771-10, CN-6701 (10sp) chain and everything works flawlessly.
