TIBLOC Emergency Rope Clamp

Petzel tibloc, great little device, dose what it says and more, I use mine for a foot loop ascender ( see pics) please note this is designed as an emergency rope stop and not for what I use it for !!! Best use is with 11mm ropes, highly recommend item for arborists and climbers

Very light easy to use, better use an oval carabiner it works better. I use it as a foot ascender for my rope walking system

Does what it says

I tried this as a safety device alongside a Prusik cord for climbing a boat mast. At one point -during testing- it slipped on the rope and ripped the rope for about 4 inches. The rope is binned now obviously. It did end up stopping so would have saved me had I fallen, but the slipping was worrisome as I don't know how far it could slip. There is no eye to connect a holding cord. At 20 feet I needed to disconnect to get round an obstacle and then reconnect. It took several minutes to do this, as apart from having to make sure I did not drop it, it was very difficult to lift the hinge and take the carabiner out. At 20 feet and swinging it was also difficult to get the carabiner back in. Excellent idea as an emergency backup but tbh a simply Prusik cord was much more effective and on all sizes and types of rope. I returned this item as it's not safe for me but in an emergency it could be useful in some scenarios.

Saved me from falling. It works well, and I only wish I had not dropped it from my boat after the first use.
